The eye test counts for something but there's more to a player than that. The numbers show Hemsky is an efficient offensive contributor. Can't have too many of those on the roster. I'm still down on the signing but I'm at least hopeful it will turn into something positive.

Hemsky reminds me of other signings over the years: Parenteau, Briere, Semin, Colby Armstrong, Douglas Murray, Malhotra, Fleishmann, etc.

At some point, MB has to let young guys get some ice time over these guys. We've had a lot of reclamation projects over the last five years.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

    Something to think about...
Interesting. Hate to see Hanzal top that list, though. I really think that was a huge wasted opportunity. I feel he's very underrated and would have fit in nicely.

MB mentioned in his press conference that there were players he thought he had signed but ultimately they just didn't want to come to Montreal. I think he was referring to Hanzal.

Apparently Habs are in talks with Mark Streit. Ouch.

I don't know what they see in him. Not a fan any longer.

Just a scare tactic for Markov.

That's more like a LOL tactic. Scare tactics involve things that are actually scary.

1yr 1.5mil offer - I'd say that's more than a scare tactic. if Streit isn't getting offers, he could accept.

Cheap deal but I don't see that Streit will help much.

No, he will not, as a Flyer fan.. his game was getting worse as the season went on last year. Age is catching up.
