Anybody disappointed that Bergevin didn't try and go for Yakupov? An ECHL player and a 3rd rounder... would it have been worth it?

Personnally, I'm waiting a bit longer before I decide on what to think about Lehkonen. A young guy trying to make the cut on a smallish sample period... I think we need to wait at least 10 regular season games before we see the real value of such a player. After that, the adrenaline of trying to make the team sometimes wears off...

Still remembering when Marcel Hossa had 6 goals in his first 5 NHL games and everyone was going nuts.

Youd rather have Yak than Lehkonen?

IMO, it's hard to tell for this season. What I'm saying is that we don't know what Lehkonen can do over an 82 game season. Sure, his preseason has been great, but I'd rather wait and see what he can do after, say, 10-15 games, when his job is "safe", rather than say "Hey he had an great preseason, so it's sure he's going to be a great top 6 for 82 games". Both would come with a lot of incertainty IMO, Lehkinen because he's inexperienced and Yak because, while he's had NHL experience, we can't know if he can perform in another team/system.

So basically, what I'm saying is that I don't really "prefer" one over the other, rather I'm just wondering if it would have been worth it to just give him a shot.

I can see this happening and if they get him back he can be demoted to AHL right away without going back through waivers.

If I remember correctly, if Mtl is the only team to try to claim him off waivers after Pittsburgh places him on them again, then they could even have him play a few games (9-10 or something) and then send him to the AHL without waivers.

The ''flu''? I hope that is the real reason... He's had the ''flu'' for over a week now.

Montoya should do what every new Habs goalie does and play above his current skill level. He's talented so odds are that he should have a good start.

Pumped for tonight...not that the first game means a great deal over the course of a season but just excited to finally see the new lineup in action.

Plus we're already used to not having Price in goal.
