I like Bournival. I am surprised they have held him back. The kid has great wheels and seems like he has good hockey smarts. Playing on that 4th line just isn't playing to his strengths.

He has concussion problems and the team is deep in terms of bottom-six forwards. It was basically a combination of the numbers game and bad timing. He's good for energy lines but I don't see much more than that.

Some insight from Trevor Timmins on the Habs outlook at the upcoming draft.

Armed with his fewest picks since 2010, when the Canadiens nabbed Jarred Tinordi and Brendan Gallagher among their five total draftees in Los Angeles, Timmins knows he and his scouting staff will have their work cut out for them in Florida. With one selection available to him in each of the first, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds and none in rounds two or four, the Canadiens’ VP of player personnel and director of amateur scouting is hoping some of 2005 fifth-overall pick Carey Price’s Vegas luck carries over into the weekend.

“I feel lucky. Last year we felt we were lucky when [Nikita] Scherbak was left there at 26. You never know,” said Timmins of the Everett Silvertips star forward. “We have to have a feel for the draft and cross our fingers and we’ll see who’s left at that pick. And don’t rule out that we could move that pick to try to get multiple seconds or thirds.”

I wouldn't be surprised if they trade down a few spots to acquire an extra pick or two.

Anyone else feeling underwhelmed by the Habs this draft?

Tried to address our issues with scoring? On a day where we saw Talbot, Lack, Lehner, O'Reilly, Haeglin, Etem, Wizniewski, Niemi, Palmieri, Reinhart, McGinn, Grigorenkoo, Lucic, Hamilton, and Soderberg move (not to mention some draft picks), the Habs did nothing. I'm not saying the Habs should have tried to get Lack or Lehner or Wiz, etc., but this weekend saw a lot of teams try to address their weaknesses and improve for next season. The Habs did neither.

I agree that the lack of trades was disappointing but as far as the picks themselves I'm not excited nor disappointed. Any forward drafted at 26 would need a few years to be ready (example: Scherbak, McCarron). Habs need immediate scoring upgrades. Their system depth is fine.

Looks like Galchenyuk will sign a bridge deal and it's close to being done:

Cool. Now it would have 2-3 years to prove his worth.
