I don't see that quote as a jab at the Oilers. He didn't address them in any way.

True. He didn't mention his former club. He did however talk about the positive expeirence and atmosphere he joined and called the Habs a 1st class organization while going on to refer to it as a "real eye opener"...

Some quotes from the Petry presser.

@CanadiensMTL: "I knew that Montreal was at the top of the list. When they approached me, it was something that I wanted to strongly consider." - Petry
@CanadiensMTL: "The environment at the Bell Centre. The guys in the locker room. The organization being first-class. That played a big part." - Petry
@CanadiensMTL: "It's a quick puck-moving team with a quick transition. That's something I take pride in doing with my game." - Petry

    m.twitter.com/CanadiensMTL
@CanadiensMTL: "The way the players are treated. The way the organization is run. It was a real eye-opener. Everything in Montreal is first-class." - Petry
@CanadiensMTL: "I felt that the team isn't far off (from winning a Stanley Cup). The pieces are there. That played into the decision as well." - Petry
@CanadiensMTL: "[Pressure] is something that comes with the contract. Marc [Bergevin] stressed the importance of not changing my game, though." - Petry
@CanadiensMTL: "It meant a lot to hear other guys say they wanted me to come back. It weighed in a lot on the decision." - Petry

    m.twitter.com/CanadiensMTL
@CanadiensMTL: "My wife and I made a decision that we strongly wanted to come back. We're happy a deal could be made rather quickly." - Petry

I'd say Emelin or Gilbert will get traded this summer with Tinordi making the jump to the NHL this fall barring a vet signing.

Ideally, considering his development, I wouldn't mind seeing Tinordi get another year of seasoning.

I'm on the fence. I think he's good enough to be in the league but bringing in a different #7 would give the team better depth as Tinordi would be the injury call-up. I could also see them just bringing up a guy like Dietz to play #7 which would leave Tinordi in the minors getting playing time.

For those that didn't catch the news right away, Beaulieu has signed a two-year contract with a cap hit of $1 million.

Beaulieu and Mitchell at $1-$1.2M a piece per year is 2 great signings IMO.

They fit nicely on this team and will provide the Habs with great depth down the road. Not to mention that Beaulieu is still improving and Mitchell seems to have found a great source of motivation playing for his childhood team!

Not with these (and future) bargains as well as a couple of offseason moves, we hopefully have enough money to land 1-2 studs up front.

I like the bottom-six aside from Eller who could still find another gear. To me they need a Desharnais upgrade and a Parenteau upgrade. Hopefully the cheap depth signings clear the deck to make that possible.

Just posting this here FYI as I don't think the Habs will actually end up signing him...

Joey McDonald signed in Europe for next year. Not surprising with Condon already there and Fucale arriving.

Bournival is getting a qualifying offer. Not much significance here but there had been some speculation that he could be let go.
