My criteria is fantasy hockey potential. Mostly points-only which is what Dobber uses for his own rankings on the main site.

Not much on the thread for a while. Anyone has thoughts before rookie camp starts tomorrow? There's not a lot of space on the roster for a rookie forward this year. On defense, I'll be interested to see Tinordi and Beaulieu go at it in the real camp. Anyone believe someone other than those two has a shot at that 6th D spot? Pateryn? Nygren?

Most interesting battle will probably be on the 2nd line as I've got no clue who's going to be on Plekanec's wings. Parenteau and Galchenyuk are probably the early favorites but a lot of stuff can happen in camp.

Plus, will Tokarski start the year in Montreal? He's got to clear waivers to go back to Hamilton and I highly doubt he goes through without being claimed.

Who would claim Tokarski? I think he would clear pretty easily. Any other team that claims him would either have to dress him or send him down, in which case he'd have to clear waivers again.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Buffalo? Washington? Phoenix? I can see a few possibilities.

Buffalo has Neuvirth, Enroth and Hackett, so they don't need another young goalie without a lot of NHL experience.

Washington has Holtby, Grubauer and Peters as a backup, so they don't need him.

Phoenix has Smith and Dubynk, and then Visentin in the minors, so they don't need him.

Most teams already have a starter and a quality backup, with someone in the minors waiting in the wings. Picking up Tokarski wouldn't benefit anyone, because they would wind up having three goalies on their NHL squad.

Neither Enroth, Neuvirth or Hackett scream quality goalie. I'm not saying it's obvious but they could easily take a chance on Tokarski if they wanted to.

Both Grubauer and Peters are hardly solid backups though I admit I wouldn't claim Tokarski if I was Washington's GM.

And Arizona makes the most sense to me. Dubnyk and Visentin? That's what you're counting on if Smith goes down with an injury? I wouldn't be comfortable with that and I doubt Tippett is.

Teams do weird things even if it doesn't make sense from our perspective. I can see someone claiming him just because.

This will be the nice way to tell him, sorry, but the Kids are better.
Beaulieu, Tinordi are ahead of him on the depth charts. Pateryn should be too.

His only real chance of making it is if they want a willing vet up in the press box as #7.

And we all know Therrien isn't going to do that. He loves soupy way too much.

Douglas Murray isn't there anymore to be the press box guinea pig.

    just saw this on twitter:

    Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1m
Just finished my interview with MTL GM Marc Bergevin, some interesting revelations incl moving Alex Galchenyuk to centre to start camp.
With DD, Eller and Plekanec that would mean one of them is going to centre the 4th line? I dont think that is a good idea. Or does Eller move to the wing or something.

Or maybe a trade is in the works? Who knows. I still think Galchenyuk starts the year playing LW and maybe shifts to centre if an injury occurs to the top 3 centres. No way Eller moves to the wing again.
