I am just curious because I've never read anything of the sorts, but is that why Alfy left? A low balled, botched negotiation?
Or is it just the hunch from the hockey community? If there is a real reason, I'd like to read about it, if there is a link to this at all.

I really like him, one of their only pure sniper prospects. I think he's their second best prospect now behind Lazar. He could see games if he does well in Bingo. Right now he is behind Shane Prince and Mike Hoffman at LW but they will call up whoever is playing the best

Based the Wiercioch signing and on pedigree and potential alone, Cowen's AAV will be higher than I originally thought now as well.
I can't see him getting less than 3 million.
Melnyk says to all media, "Go **** yourself with my rumored budget of $50 million and leave the actual hockey dealing to me and my staff!"
Cap payroll is already in the $53,500,000 range without Cowen.
Sens re-signed RFA Corey Cowick to a one-year, two-way deal.
He had an impressive season last year in the AHL. He is an energy guy, who is willing to stick up for his teammates, but he also showed some sustained offence with his pro game for the first time. Him and Pageau were unbeatable on the PK last season and that alone could give him a sniff of the NHL this season. He's a big body containing all muscle. Not too many players work harder than him. Other than playing different positions, Cowick LW and Zack Smith C, they are decent comparibles on the ice. Smith regressed last season, Cowick did the opposite.
Only remaining RFA's are Cowen and Da Costa.
Good Elliotte Friedman interview on Team1200 radio today.
12 minutes of Alfie, Bryan Murray, Ryan and Spezza talk. 1:00 - 13:00 is the Ottawa talk.

For those that missed it, the Sens Marc Methot was 1 of the 17 Dmen and 47 Canadian born players overall invited to an Aug. 25-28 Olympic orientation camp in Calgary. Notable exemption Sens-wise was Jason Spezza. If you want to try and tell me why Spezza should have been invited, I probably won't be too receptive. And this from a Spezza fan.
Other countries Sens invitees are:
Sweden:
Erik Karlsson was 1 of 13 Dmen
Robin Lehner was 1 of 4 goalies
Finland:
None
Russian:
None
USA:
Bobby Ryan was 1 of 24 forwards
Craig Anderson was 1 of 6 goalies
The Sens are about to sign Ludwig Karlsson.
He just left Northeastern University after 2 seasons and is a big 6 foot 3 forward who shoots left.
I'm not gonna pretend I know much more, but I will in a second after I do some digging.

He's dreamy looking. Get excited girls. Haha
I said in a post about a week ago, any college free agent signing or draft pick by Murray's team, you have to take seriously. Betting against Ludwig Karlsson to get games in the NHL, would be a bad bet.
