Sens win 4-1 over San Jose.

Look at previous posts and you'll find the same story here. Craig Anderson is still on fire. Made 36 saves on 37 shots last night. Has faced 35+ shots in 7 out of 10 January games.

Kyle Turris was their best forward again, finishing with 1+1. He has 13 points in 16 games with a +12 rating since joining Ottawa.

Colin Greening scored 2 goals on two very nice wrist shots and is starting to play a little bit like he did in the beginning of the year with Spezza. Finished with 5 SOG.

Erik Karlsson ended his awful 2 game pointless streak with the GWG, with a nice assist by Turris.

Jason Spezza had 2 assists on the night

Mark Borowiecki made his NHL debut last night, playing with the near-1000 gamer Chris Phillips. He played a solid defensive game and he looked better than Carkner, who he replaced last night.

Bad news of the Sens though, as two of their best defensive players, Kaspars Daugavins (leg) and Zack Smith (possibly a concussion, but who knows), left the game due to injury.

With the loss of Smith and Dauagvins, Andre Petersson will most likely make his NHL debut tomorrow in Anaheim, and the team has also called up Stephane Da Costa from Binghamton. Side note: Petersson and Da Costa were 2 of Binghamton's best forwards so that team is going to take a big hit, and they are a terrible team as it is this season.

Sens play in Anaheim tomorrow, 4 PM EST.

Also rumblings that GM Bryan Murray will look to add a forward near or at the trade deadline, to possibly take this team further this season. He said he will not sacrifice the future, however, which is great news.

Possible options may include Ales Hemsky, Tuomo Ruutu, Christian Huselius, and Dustin Penner.

Ouch on losing Smith - he has been so solid for them this year. He has been a very good contributor to my fantasy team this year as well - be very interested in any updates as they occur.

    Some prospect notes:

Jakob Silfverberg 1+1 today, 36 points in 37 games, good for 4th overall in Elitserien scoring. Played 4 less games than the leading scorer, who has 43 points. You can pretty much pencil him in the Sens top 9 for next season.

Mika Zibanejad is out of the Djurgarden lineup with a concussion. Djurgarden just fired their head coach, and hired their junior coach as his replacement, which hopefully means more ice time for Z when he gets back. Fredrik Claesson should also see a bit of a bump but he has been playing a lot of minutes on the back-end for Djurgarden already.

Shane Prince now 5th in OHL scoring with 63 points (28 goals) in only 39 games played. He would be in the Top 3 if he was not injured earlier on in the year. Prince is known as a playmaker so the goal total is a nice surprise so far (although not uncommon for a guy in his last OHL year to score more goals than ever before).

Stefan Noesen has also creeped up the OHL scoring leader board. After an 18 point January (12 games), Noesen now has 57 points (20 goals) in 44 games on the year. He should continue on this pace into the playoffs, as Plymouth is an elite team and will rely on Noesen, along with Rickard Rakell and JT Miller, to help lead the Whalers to an OHL Championship. I think the best is yet to come for Noesen.

In Binghamton, Andre Petersson, who recently made his NHL debut with the O-Sens, had a 4 goal weekend and now has 29 points (16 goals) in 32 games on the year. Almost a PPG, not bad for a Swedish AHL rookie playing his first year on the smaller ice.

After a 4 assist weekend, Stephane Da Costa is also showing great signs as an AHL rookie, with 24 points (10 goals) in 24 games with the B-Sens.

Turris sure is thriving in Ottawa. Another goal last night. Sens management must be quite pleased with themselves over that trade. If he keeps it up long-term, he'll become that 2nd line centre the Sens have craved for so long.

Hilarious Yahoo player note from today:

"He's still 22-years old and has the talent to produce as well as the delusional confidence that can accompany some high draft picks."

Turris had an awesome assist in the bag as well, but Alfredsson hit the crossbar. Looked like a sure goal. Turris and Alfredsson are great together.

5 game home stand coming up so expect stats to rise all around.

Good trade for the Sens to grab Ben Bishop from the Blues for a 2013 2nd round pick. The Sens desperately needed an NHL-ready tender.

Bishop was quickly (verbally) signed to a one-year deal for the 2012-13 season by Ottawa - paperwork will be signed tomorrow.

It is pretty safe to say, if everything stays as it is right now, Auld's days are numbered in Ottawa and Bishop will be the full-time backup next season.

Much to the dismay of most Sens fans, Lehner needs more time in the AHL and this will the teach Lehner that nothing is going to be handed to him. A couple question marks have been raised by Lehner this season, but that doesn't mean that his development has been stunted, he is still on the right path in my opinon. I think Lehner just got a bit of a wake-up call with this trade and I can't wait to see how he plays against the Islanders in just over 2 hours, fresh off the news of Bishop joining the ranks.

Back to Bishop, I love his size and athleticism. He is a great puck-mover and it will be a joy to watch him next season, because as of 2 days ago, I just became a Sens season ticket holder for the 2012-13 and most likely beyond.

In case you are wondering, Bishop is much more NHL ready than Lehner is. Forget about just stopping the puck for a second, Bishop has learned how to be a pro already in the AHL, Lehner hasn't.

Don't be suprised if the Sens still draft a goalie in June to add to Lehner, who really is the only prospect in goal for Ottawa.

Depth chart as of right now, would have to be Anderson, Bishop, Auld, Lehner, McKenna.

Yeah, really good deal. Can't throw all your eggs in one basket.

Sens will be taking a look at Daniel Altshuller from the Oshawa Generals. From Ottawa, really impressed Pierre Dorion last year.

Feel bad for Lehner this year, Binghamton is garbage. They will get lots of help net year with the arrival of Mark Stone, Shane Prince, J-G Pageau, Ben Blood, Darren Kramer, Chris Wideman, and maybe Zibanejad and Fredrik Claesson.

Couldn't agree more on Daniel Altshuller, I've expect him to be drafted by Ottawa.

Binghampton is definitely garbage and after winning the Calder Cup and then losing all those vets, that should have been addressed by Tim Murray quicker (Lee Sweatt aside). But, Lehner hasn't really helped himself as much as he could have, therefore, I don't feel bad for him, so there we disagree.

In saying that, Bingo will have so many new players next season and Claesson is one in particular I hope comes over. His contract is up with Djurgarden after this season and from what I hear, he wants to come to North America.

Bright future ahead. Loving this team and so glad I can finally call myself a season ticket holder.

Game on! Lehner vs the Islanders. What will Lehner's mindset be after learning that he is not going to be handed anything because of Bishop?

Great game by Lehner. Always seemed square and kept his body soft, sucking in pucks. Impressive. He could have let that early goal break him, but he quickly took control of his game and the game itself.

Tough decision for the Sens against Boston on Tuesday, Lehner or Bishop? Not sure when Bishop will be ready to play, if there will be any Visa issues, etc, but Lehner is the one on emergency recall, so barring Anderson going on the IR, the Sens need to send Lehner back down because of the 23-man roster rule. Too many unknowns right now to know for sure who will start on Tuesday.
