He won?t be moved. He?s a good player when healthy, he?s just had a ton of bad luck and injured every year

i would defnitely move Hoffman if I could

There was a time when I believed this, but I have lost faith in both his "talent" and his ability to stay healthy. I do agree that he isn't going anywhere. I dont see many teams wanting that contract for the return in production.

Hoffman to St Louis? That would be very interesting, indeed. I'd really hate to see him go. Especially if it was an underwhelming deal like the Flyers got for Brayden Schenn

I'm not sure that what was reported was a sell off, more like they are open to making deals (except for EK and Hands of Stone). I'm curious as to how the Karlsson contract situation will play out. You would think that the Sens HAVE to re-sign this guy, don't you? Is the heel injury hampering his game permanently or is it just a blip? How much and how long will the Sens owner pay to find out? This and much more coming to a sports network near you by July 1st.

I am not sure the Sens knew what they were doing here. I mean they did and didn't know in a way. This team wasn't going to win a cup as it was currently constructed so what do you do then? Live in mediocrity or a minor blow up? I thought last year's run was great but not repeatable. I think you need look at what the Predators did and why and then start making some deals that benefit the team similarly in the long term. The Preds were mired in mediocrity for so long and now they look great. Now accomplishing this goal is easier said than done. I believe that this is why they traded for Duchene in the first place - however, that hasn't panned out yet. Rather than an indictment of Duchene, they may be looking to bring in some guys who may fit better with him on the ice. Duchene will never return the value they paid for him right now but why not see what's available.

The EK contract situation will be interesting for certain. My bet is that EK was so dominant prior to his surgery that he will be given this season and into next to find out. But his performance now is not a surprise to me in the least. The injury and recovery was going to effect his game this year as skating is such a big part of EK's skillset and an injury to the heel not only affects performance but also attitude. I've broken a femur in a sports injury and while the leg has recovered, my confidence in it has never been the same. There is an emotional cost to an injury that is not accounted for by people who have never suffered a serious one. Also, I'd not want to be blocking shots like he used to either with this injury and recovery. He may never return to being a dominant shot blocker.

I think EK will never be the same player he was prior to the injury... but I do think he will return to being a league force offensively and defensively - so maybe we get a 90-95% EK from here on - and that is simply still awesome. This is a very good buy low time for him. It may cost a lot still, but still project EK to be a top 20 player over the next few years.

I agree with everything you say here, especially the part about serious injuries affecting the way you think in the future. Been there, done that with a torn ACL. You're very conscious of the injury, even though you know it's been fixed up.
