If you can contend this year you should go Semin. Before the injury though I would have said Parise. Parise long-term for me. He was drafted first in all my pools.

Parise confidently. He's safe and a hard worker. Semin is relatively injury prone and UFA after this year. It is almost certain he leaves washington and his value drops.

Parise is the safe choice but if you're contending this year it's not a bad idea to grab Semin.

Tough one. If Semin saw first line minutes ALL the time then maybe we would see a higher upside for him. Parise is the more consistent and hard working one. Also, never minding Parise's current injury, Semin is still the bigger injury risk.

Also both guys are UFA this year and where they play next year could have a big impact to future production. If Parise moves from a mostly stunted offensive system in NJ to somewhere more offensive, he could realize a higher upside then we see now. On the flip side, if Semin leaves an offensive juggernaut like WASH to another team where he doesn't have the same supporting cast then he could see lesser numbers.

Going forward I think Parise is the safer choice long term. But I think we could see bigger years out of BOTH players then what we've seen thus far.

Tough question with Semin's 5 pt night the last game. This year I would roll with Semin(obvious reasons with Parise hurt) but for keeper value I would have to say Parise. Who knows were Semin will be next year, and if he isn't playing with OV and Backy it's hard to say if he can produce at that level.

I would have to agree with the majority here and say Parise for a keeper beyond this season.

He has solid production, has been less injury prone, I think he still has room for further improvement. In the offseason his value is likely to go up if he moves from NJ which I see as a distinct possibility, while Semin's is likely to go down as although Washington may be able to keep him, I see him very easily moving on as a UFA.

I voted Semin. Both great players, just a hunch.

Default Why do injuries do this???

I hate how people drop the value on a proven talent because of one injury. If Parise hadn't been injured, this wouldn't even be a legitimate discussion. Only reason to take Semin over Parise is if you're intent on winning this year.

I expect semin's average point totals to drop by more than 10 points after this year's over (unless by some miracle WSH find the cap room to 1-year him again). No Ovechkin and Backstrom to create space for him in the offensive zone will seriously hurt his production. Parise, on the other hand, can put up the points with no evident superstars on his wings; he's proven that. That's what makes him the far superior player.

The answer to this question is Parise. Parise the 2nd best LW in the league. Semin is a great RW, but he is not in that quality yet. In a keeper, Parise is comparable to Kane, which is a step ahead of Semin. In Multi-Cat Leagues, Parise's value is even higher. Choose Parise here, good dependable production.
