    Default H. Karlsson

Hey Justin, Was wondering if you could give me some insight on this guy.

I know he is gonna be a decent back up and should get some solid starts behind Kipper. I just acquired him as my 3rd goaltender (behind Fleury and Hiller).

Does he have the potential/skill set to be a starter in the NHL?

Will he start 20-25 games this yr assuming they lessen Kippers starts?

What type of chances are there that Karlsson just complete flops as a back up?

    Thanks in advance!

Hey sorry for the delayed reply.

All you want to know about Karlsson is on Page 20 of the September Scouting Journal:

    http://www.thegoalieguild.com/?page_id=4636

    Definitely give that a read.

Karlsson has the ability to be an NHL starting goalie but will need at least a year to adjust to North American style and the speed and pace of the NHL.

Karlsson will only play as much as Kiprusoff allows. There's no set plan no matter what the Flames coaches say. He will play when Kiprusoff struggles or needs a night off. Same story as in Vancouver, Buffalo, Rangers, Avalanche.

There is maybe a 10% chance that Karlsson flops. He's been very impressive in the pre-season and he's 6-foot-6 but moves much better than big goalies his size (Ben Bishop).

    Thanks for the insight Justin!

Gave the article a read... it definitely puts things in a more realitic manner.

I acquired him as a 3rd goalie behind Fleury and Hiller. Looks like he should be a solid 3rd goalie with limited starts but there is also that small chance he can go beyond that. What I am hoping for is limited starts but quality ones. CGY defense should help him as well. Hoping if he players atleast satisfactory, that he gets an ext or some sort.
