"NHL-quality goalie that had a bad season" vs "not yet NHL-ready" is the question. Great debate!
To be honest, I think the answer lies in the middle somewhere. I do believe he's a NHL-quality goalie, but how good is he? Is he a true #1 for the future or is he keeping a spot warm for someone better? I recall another big goalie (Alex Auld) not playing well in a #1 role and being labeled a career backup.
I just hope he gets a chance to play some NHL games this year so that this "question" can be answered LOL. Otherwise I'll be pissed, because I've spent more time trying to get Oilers fans and people to realize JDD's shitty stats last year seriously mean very little. I couldn't imagine actually being him and frothing at the mouth to just get out there and play and show ppl what he's got!!
