Very quickly:
Frolov sucks. If he has anything less than 60 points this year on a crappy offensive team, he's going to Russia. I give it 50/50 that it happens. At least Alfie will be productive until he retires. And since he was a P-P-G player last year, I fully expect him to be close to that this year. If notthing else, his name holds more value for you in a trade to a contending team than Frolov. I would look to deal him as soon as you get him.
Streit is good, but DD is better.
Myers could be the next Chara (who's upside isn't all that great anyway) or he could regress. I have been leaning towards a regression these past few days.
Make the deal. It's lower risk, high reward.
Yeah take Doughty and run, I like it a lot.

Alfie is "perceived" as an aging player, but he's still a PPG guy and with Gonchar & a more-mature Karlsson... ooooh my... could be huge points.
Doughty is Doughty. He is the real thing.
Positionally, trading off a LW, gaining a RW, and a HUGE upgrade at keeper D is just amazing. Man I wish trades like this came my way...

Doesn't mean that he still isn't almost 40. But I get what you're saying. He is still going to be productive despite his age. Personally, I think that health would be the only thing keeping him from a solid season where he scores points at a near P-P-G pace.Originally Posted by Pengwin7
I still like the situation in OTT this year for Spezza & Alfie.
These guys have never had an offensive defenseman to man their powerplay (unless people are counting Redden or Kuba!). Now they have Gonchar... and I really think Gonchar will add big value to Karlsson's game.
People think of Alfie, his back-to-back 70pt seasons, and fail to recognize what fantastic support he might have on the PP in OTT this year.
I think he can still play 70 games... and I put his upside for the season at 85pts. (!!!)

I accepted the trade. Thanks everyone. I guess now I just need to draft another d-man just to fill the void of trading off two. Guys like McCabe, Boewmeester, Whitney, Visnovsky, Souray, Martin will be in the draft. Maybe I can catch one of them in the 3rd-4th round.
