    Default Halak vs Rask

Regardless of situation, who will be the better keeper throughout the next decade?

Tuuka Rask. I think his skills are superior . Halak should be solid, but I view Rask as tier above Halak.

Halak could be very good. Or he could also fall off a bit.

I fully expect Rask to be a stud within 3 years.

    Taking the under on Halak.

I'm not really sure what this means? Taking what under on Halak?

It's hard to asssess the better goalie "regardless of situation". Because often a goalie's stats get better or worse depending on what team he plays for.
So, if you are asking which goalie has the better natural skill, I would say Halak.
Rask is sound positionally, but Halak is more athletic.
If Halak plays like he did last spring, there's no question.

You could ask it this way too: If Halak and Rask played on the same team, who would win the #1 starter spot?

I think Halak is pretty darn battle-tested this early in his career. He's had to deal with the pressure cooker environment in montreal for some time and always performed under that pressure, getting them into the playoffs 2 out of 3 seasons. Rask is one heck of a talent and is composed and mentally tough and skill wise is maybe better than Halak by a little, but Halak is pure ice water. He's taken every job he's had away from someone else and that means a lot to me. He's one cool customer and one heck of a hard worker. All business. On the same team, I think Halak would take the job. I vote Halak, but it's awful awful close.

I don't get it... how can somebody pick the better keeper without considering the situation???

toskala. trust me, he was the one goalie who could single handedly decide the outcome of every game.

    lmao

    praba you're awesome.

I also do not understand how you can evaluate goalies aside their situations, for an upcoming DECADE....

    As I said:

I believe the most skilled is Rask.
I believe the most composed and mature is Halak.
I believe the most battle-tested and hardened is Halak.
I believe they are equal in ferocity and competitive nature.

I can't wait to see what Halak will do in a Blues uniform. I do not expect any drop off at all. Any.

This is so wrong. Have you seen Rask's pop-up ability? Not many people are athletic enough to do that. Halak may be more acrobatic, but not athletic.

I think he meant the under in relation to everyone else picking Rask.

Either way, I'm on the Halak boat. This STL team is primed to take a leap forward and I think Halak is more than capable of keeping up his end of the bargain. Rask, while highly touted, may headed in the wrong direction with Boston.
