What now? Looks like his value takes a hit. How big depends on where he lands. Thoughts?

    Takes a hit? You think?

I agree w/ Dobber that it's entirely possible that he doesn't play in the NHL this year. His agent shouldn't have let it go to arbitration. What use is it going to arbitration if even if you win, you lose?

Niemi is not a top ten goalie by any standards. Inflated win loss record last year had to do with the team in front of him. I think this will show if he signs elsewhere (maybe NYI?)
I love to see all the Turco hate and people questioning Scotty and Stan Bowman and their decision. I think they are pretty smart hockey minds as compared ot the armchair quarterbacks on the internet circuit. Turco had better save % on a considerably weaker team, and should plie up wins and assists on Chicago. I do not understand Niemi as showing 96 pts in the guide pre-trade, and then Turco only getting 79. 38 W, 5 SO is where I see Turco getting.
But anyways, to the question you ask, yes his value has definately taken a hit...I am not sure if there is even a job out there for him.

    Full Keeper, 1pt G, 1pt A, 2pts W, 3pts SO

Niemi can not land with any one of San Jose, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Louis or Philly. Therefore, if he indeed does sign with an NHL club, he will most definitely take a hit in value.

What do you do with this guy now? Trade him for whatever you can get or wait him out?

If you can trade him good luck, not much your gonna be able to do with him right now, your stuck in the mud on this one til things get sorted out and even then you may still be stuck in the mud...yeah I'd shop him in your league but temper your expectations on the return you think you'll get for him currently...

His agent is smart like rock.

I guess he saw what Chicago did to keep Hjarmersson (sp?) and figured they would do the same to keep Niemi in the fold.

Well guess what: he was wrong!

Is anyone else holding onto this guy or is he the most traded player in fantasy hockey right now? Love to hear your thoughts as he is sitting on my bench)

I dropped him from my keeper list as I feel he won't play in the NHL this season either, theres just no market. He's no where near a top 10, let alone top 15 goalie. Dump him.

I think he'd be pretty much impossible to trade right now. I can't see him finding an NHL job, and even if he does, it won't be in such an ideal situation.

Sorry guys. It's my fault. I spent half of last season barking off at anothe rmanager in our pool becasue I scooped Niemi on waivers. I yapped off at him every time Niemi got a win or shutout.......

It was fun while it lasted, but I think his time might be done for now too. Too bad for a Stanley Cup winning goalie.

The Hawks are like the Florida Marlins of a couple of years ago!! lol

No, you're right. It's the Marlins. They have like a $30 million dollar payroll and are always forced to trade 99% of there talent before they reach there UFA years because they can't "afford" them. Meanwhile, there was a tremendous uproar when it was discovered that the Marlins were pocketing the revenue sharing money they were getting instead of putting it back where it belongs: The Team!
