Default A couple of options: help me choose!

I have a couple of options that I would really appreciate advice on:

    A)
I could trade Henrik Zetterberg straight up for one of:

Niklas Backstrom, Craig Anderson, Jon Quick or Jimmy Howard

    B)
OR add another player and take a shot at:

    Bryz, Lundqvist, Kipper or Brodeur

So, my question is this: Who is the best option out of A? All have question marks on this end. And, is it worth going big to land option B tenders? Please rank the best options for me!!

    Thanks so much

    In option A in order:
    Jimmy Howard
    Craig Anderson
    Jon Quick
    Niklas Backstrom

    Otption B:
    Bryz
    Brodeur
    Kipper
    Lundqvist

I think your best bet is to go with Howard. Detroit always seems to do well and Howard will benefit from that. I wouldnt do option B. I dont think Phoenix will do as well this year, Brodeurs number will go down since they are an offensive tem now, the Flames and Rangers might miss the playoffs again.

    Option A:
Anderson (good future in COL and better goalie than Howard IMO)
    Howard
Quick (soon to be overtaken by Bernier - stay clear unless he's dealt)
Backstrom (not a fan of Minny at all)

    Option B:
    Bryzgalov
    Lundqvist
Brodeur (top in the list in short term but if long term then he drops)
    Kipper

It really depends on who you would have to add to get one of the Top goalies from B. I would explore that option first before settling for one of the Group A goalies.

I think Derek is pretty bang on with the first group. A little more discussion with the second group.

Not so much in order, as just thoughts.

Bryz - I think Phoenix over achieved to a degree last year. Should battle for 6th to 10th in the conference this year. Bryz' numbers will slip a bit.

Brodeur - If you're trying to win now, this guy may lead your league in points.

Kipper - I just don't prefer this option. Over paid. Under achieves. Lower save % than I like. Is Calgary a contender? I'm not so sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see them miss the playoffs.

Lundqvist - You can rate him highest of these four. You can rate him lowest of these four. I think as a tender, he has the most guaranteed elite seasons remaining on this list. The Rangers are in tough to make the playoffs. Thus, his numbers reflect this. A very safe place to make an investment. His value will never be lower.

    My take is this....

Why trade a top scorer like Zetterberg for one of the "Tier-II" goalies in Group A when you can retain Z and try to snag a "Tier-I" goalie in Group B?

I would focus on trying to secure either Bryzgalov or Brodeur or Lundqvist. Even though you are in a keeper league, Brodeur has at least two more years left in him. Then if he does finally retire, you'll still have assets like Zetterberg et. al to move for a goalie down the road.

If you truly believe all four goalies in Group A come with question marks (I agree with that) then you are better off making a move to secure a more talented goalie that will give you more confidence heading into the season ... and you don't have to give up Zetterberg.

Goalies could come along in the next two years that other managers miss out on but you can secure .... prospects that fly under the radar or maybe a trade option comes your way that's considered a steal in the goalie department.

Other options come along all the time - mine as well get an elite talent without giving up an elite forward!

Maybe I am missing something Justin, but I am not sure where I don't have to give up Zetts?

Sorry, I guess I read the above as A being one option of moving Z for one of those goalies and then B being seperate from having to move Zetterberg??

Either way, If you have to move one of your top forwards, you're still better off going for one of the goalies in Group B. I'm not sold on Anderson posting the same kind of numbers from last year (he'll have to duplicate his incredible October run from last season) and Howard could be another sophomore slump candidate ... and Jon Quick could lose a lot of minutes to Bernier.

    Thanks,
Kipper is the only option left. Tried the other three. Don't value him that much, though we do only count wins-losses, and he should still rack up 35 wins.

The other GM would do Zetts and Pomminville/Alfe for Kipper and Elias

    Should I??
