    D Mike Green
    G Lundqvist
    G Fleury

It's down to Vankek or Hemsky for my last keeper spot.

Both had sub par years last year. Hemsky of course had the major injury.

    Who do you keep?
Band-Aid Boy trainee or Band-Aid Boy certified? With the new-look Oilers, I am very curious as to how they turn out and in your shoes I would roll the dice with Hemsky (and then kick myself when he breaks his leg in November!)

Bernier to a fellow GM for A. Ovechkin and M. Neuvirth. It was really hard for me to pull the trigger on this one as C. Price and J. Bernier have been my "baby boys" since I drafted them in our second season. That said two questions. 1) What do you think of the trade? and 2) Do you see Neuvirth taking over in Washington anytime soon? Thanks again Dobbs!

P.S. League info and my keepers are in my signature...
    1. You got Ovechkin? That's all I need to see
    2. No. Get another goaltender. Varlamov needs to get hurt first. Plus, Holtby is breathing down both their necks. Neuvirth is excellent to own as a No.3 guy for now until we're certain of what happens with him.

Hey dobber, as always thank you for doing this.
    Two questions:
    1) I drafted nyquist based on the p report and his NCAA numbers. My biggest concern when drafting him was that it might be impossible for his value to go up if he plays in Maine again. Can you see him improving on last years numbers?
    2) Out of arnott, brunette, Malone and lupul, which 2 do you take for next year?

    Another Question:

This is not for the team/league in my signature.

I finished 3rd out of 12 last season.

12 team Roto keeper ... keep 10 pro and 6 farm
10 round waiver draft in September

    Players: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG

    Goalies: W, GAA, save%

    3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D, 2G, 5 bench and 6 farm

    Prospects:
skaters: start season with less than 100 games played
goalies: start season with less than 50 games played
If a prospect starts season with prospect eligibility, he keeps it for entire season, but can move up if playing in NHL.

    Nicklas Backstrom C (WAS)
    Mike Richards C (PHI)
    Marian Gaborik RW (NYR)
    Bobby Ryan RW (ANA)
    Jakub Voracek RW (CBJ)
    Brandon Dubinsky C (NYR)
    David Perron LW (STL)
    Chris Stewart RW (COL)
    James Neal LW (DAL)

    Zach Bogosian D (ATL)
    Niklas Kronwall D (DET)
    Kimmo Timonen D (PHI)

    Henrik Lundqvist G (NYR)
Tuukka Rask G (BOS) ... no longer prospect eligible.

These players in bold can be saved as either a prospect or a pro player.

    Matt Duchene
    Tomas Tartar
    Evgeny Grachev
    Dmitry Kulikov
    Oliver Ekman-Larsson
    Jamie McBain
    Jacob Markstrom
    Vladimir Tarasenko
    Chris Kreider
    Brendan Smith
    Alexander Burmistrov

Who would be your 10/6 keepers?

    Thanks Again,
    Brian

Default Rank available forwards - #1 pick

I have the #1 pick this year. 12 teams, 18 players, 4 keepers. Forwards scored as points only. These are some forwards that i suspect will be available. Rank the top 3 or 4, based on this year and overall keepability (or rank all if you are feeling diligent).

Note: some of these guys probably won't be available, as they may currently be on the same team and the owner would have to pick one over the other, but still interested in the ranking.

Toews, Staal, Marleau, Zetterberg, M. Richards, B. Ryan, Stastny, Hossa

    Default Long Term Keepers

Dobber, I'm in a keeper league and was curious who you would drop if you had to drop 2. For D-men, its strictly points only, G and A count the same. A lot of the young guys are not in my starting linup yet as I can only start 5 Dmen max per week. Head to head league. As you can tell, I hoard Dmen like I hoard chicken wings.....

    Which 2 would you drop?

    Mike Green
    Drew Doughty
    Andrei Markov
    Alex Goligoski
    Michael Del Zotto
    Keith Yandle

    Hey Dobber,
I've kept Fleury and Price the last 2-3 seasons now, but it looks like I'm gonna have to hang on to Rask this year, even though like you I'm all about Price's upside.

As for my other 4 keepers, is there any reason why I should consider Spezza over Nash, Iginla, St. Louis, and D.Sedin?

    Thanks.

What order do you draft these defensemen?

    Boyle
    Keith
    Karlsson
    Doughty

Starting my new keeper league draft and thinking drafting D in with my 13th overall pick. Or is that too soon for a player of these calibers?

Comeau is a risk/reward guy with upside in the high 60s, or even a little more if he can play with JT. He showed signs of breaking out in the second half and is a dark horse for 55 this year. That said, he's also a dark horse for the press box. So be wary of any cold streaks, or anything negative that the coach says about him.

Hanzal is going to be the next Handzus. A third-line checking center who will get 50 points and look like he could do more with more ice time - but he'll never get that ice time.

Skille is potential 30-goal man who develops slowly. His AHL offense came along slow and his NHL offense will come along slow. Expect a long wait.

Carlson - awesome. No.2 d-man in the world to own after Green (maybe No.3 after Keith). Huge upside, money in the bank, killer team, has none of the weaknesses Green has and I think he'll eventually make Green expendable.

League in my sig. I have already dropped off the players that "had" to go back into the f.a. pool, so that will explain the holes and I have not settled on keepers as of yet.

    The question is:

I need to shed some salary before the draft and I am considering a trade of my Malkin ($60 cap hit, out of a $300 cap, Ovie is costing me $70) for his Rask (farm eliglible, so no cap hit until I activate him), Yandle and Myers (both very cheap cap hits). This trade would mean the difference between having less than $100 dollars to fill 14 roster spots and possibly having $150.

Forwards like Kane, Toews, Backstom (Wash), Datsyuk, Zetterberg. M. Richards and Perry will be available at the (auction style) draft. Also d-men such as Green, Boyle, Markov, Chara and Weber.

Am I crazy moving Malkin? or should I do the trade and go with the goalie (keeping Halak and would be stashing Rask on the farm) and d-man help before the draft and open the cash up for the other available players.

    Thanks again for the insight!

Normally I say yes, but salary cap leagues level the field and bring the Big 3 back down to earth. Your deal sounds like a solid one

Right now i'm pretty sure i'm keeping Heatley, Parise, Downie (goon)....possibilities for 4th keeper are Hossa, Varlamov (and less likely: Timonen, Carle, Alfie, Horton). Don't need to decide til September.

However, could Varlamov be a top-tier goalie in this system, or do you see him splitting time with Neuvirth? What kind of year is Hossa looking at?

    Pickering #1.
    1. Varlamov will be a top tier goalie, barrign injury. That's all that will stop him from 55 starts.
    2. Hossa is looking at 70 points give or take. It's looking like his 100-point days are behind him, as are his 80-game days. So count on 70 in 70.
