Thank you so much for your reply to my Looking for advice to be competitive post...

To answer your question...here are the categories for goalies: GS W GA GAA SV SV% SHO / not currently a strength for me...

There are quite a few \"D\" available on the wire, which pts category should I focus on and I will tell who is out there.

Tonight I was going to start Kopitar not Savard because of the Phoenix v. Montreal matchup...

I will also try and propose a few trades and will run those by you before I offer them up...

I am in sixth place out of seven teams and will make up some ground this season!!!

Again thank you for offering assistance, with your help, as long as you are willing, we will climb up the standings!!

Let\'s see if we can move you up the standings!

I need to clarify how your pool counts points. In your first post here, you mention the categories for goalies are GS W GA GAA SV SV% SHO. In your second post, are you only listing the categories you think you are weak in? To me it looks like the second post makes more sense, 6 cats for Fwd/Def and 4 cats for goalies.

Good to be clear on how the points are gained before giving any advice! When Penalty Minutes are factored in, Chara is much better than if only points are counted. Same with Thomas, his GAA and SV% are outstanding, but not Fleury\'s.

With only 7 teams, they should all be stacked, but there may also be some FA\'s available that can help out.

I have a few more questions and a request.

    1. This is a roto (rotisserie) pool, not a points pool. It can be
confusing. So, if you are first in a category, you get 7 points and if you\'re last you get 1 point, right?

    2. How many starters/positions do you field? 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2G? If not, please breakdown for me. Plus max bench size and do you use IR?

    3. Jokinen from FLA, Hossa ATL and Richards TB?

    4. Compile a list of FA\'s for me. I doubt there will be any C or RW that are better than what you already have. I\'m really looking for a better defenseman than Ranger. Plus you are already goalie heavy, but if there is someone out there that has decent potential, I\'d look at it.

    5. Your goaltending needs to be addressed as you already know. I\'m willing to be patient with Kiprusoff. Thomas will give you decent numbers in GAA and SV% as can Ellis on his occasional starts. Will have to wait to see what happens with Bryzgalov - you may have a bargain here, depending on where he ends up. Not a Theodore fan. Fleury is death in pools that count GAA and SV%.

    6. First order of business is to try and package Fleury and X for a top goalie. Not sure how or who quite yet. Might have to time it after Fleury gets a shutout (miracles can happen) or plays well over a few games.

That\'s enough for now. Can you post all the other team rosters? It\'s much easier to play poker when you know what cards the other guys are holding!

    Cheers

Whoa, that team in first is going to be tough to beat. First things first, pick up Bouwmeester, drop Theodore.

Next, look for trade opportunities. I think Kiprusoff and Thomas will be alright for you. You need a third goalie for sure. Really, Thomas is your third goalie. Not sure about the guys in your league. Try and get Luongo from Old Time Hockey for Fleury/Kovalev. He\'s got Sabourin, so Fleury would be an obvious hand-cuff for him. Make sure to mention that PIT is going to be a dominant team for years to come and it would be beneficial to have their goalie (Yeah, it might be Fleury, it might not, but don\'t tell him that!). Play on his injuries at RW with Cole and Michalek. Get him to throw in his worst player (you never know who they drop).

Next, go after Joe Thornton if possible. Offer M.Richards and Vanek. Richards has 21 pts and Thornton has 24. Richards has overachieved, Thornton underachieved. His #3 RW is Modin, so he can use Vanek. He might be waiting for Semin/Demitra to come back, but make sure you downplay that and make sure he knows that Vanek was +47 and had 40 goals last year.

Luongo was a shot in the dark, he\'s really coming on and I didn\'t think he would go for it, but gotta try.

Stay away from Lehtonen. This Old Time Hockey has smokin\' tenders. Counter with his choice of either Nabokov or Backstrom and M.Michalek (he\'s only DTD) for Fleury and Kovalev. Not sure he\'ll bite on that, but at least he\'s willing to listen and replies promptly.

There\'s almost too many FA\'s to choose from! I like Enstrom, but am reluctant to drop Ellis just yet. Bryzgalov? Interesting, he might be a spot starter, depending on the offense he\'s facing. Hold off on any FA\'s right now, see what the trade route brings.

One question I forgot to ask. I\'m assuming it\'s a one year pool. Do you guys keep any or all players from year to year?

May I make a suggestion? Yahoo allows for a co-manager - if kblayne enters the comish\'s email address as co-manager - Comish can pop in and get a hands on look rather than trying to do it this way which has to be arduous. Once he has had enough of a peek - just cancel the co-manager status.

Good suggestion Shoeless. Not sure if kblayne wants to explain to the other guys in the pool who this comish guy is! I don\'t really need access, I\'ve think I\'ve got most of the info I need. Let\'s see how far Big Daddy can move up the standings! Man, only 7 teams, it\'s going to be tough. There\'s still 60 or so games left, plenty of time.

Thank you both for taking an interest...I agree, I don\'t want to formally list a co-manager...

Datsyuk in my league made me an unsolicited trade offer this morning, I though that we should deal with this before we counter to Old Time for Backstrom...

Datsyuk gives: Timonen and Toskala for Chara

I am not sure that Toskala is worth it...here are his other goalies: Lundqvist, Ward, LeClaire, Gerber & Miller...

He has been shopping Miller forever...won\'t move Lundqvist..

Any thoughts or should I just go stratight for Backstrom

Toskala\'s not worth it. Ask for Leclaire, then Gerber, then finally Miller. Timonen/top goalie is worth Chara. We can get pen mins elsewhere. Timonen will give decent points. Start with Leclaire/Timonen for Chara. If he says no, ask for Gerber/Timonen for Chara, then finally accept Miller/Timonen for Chara. At least Miller will get Wins.

I won\'t trade Lundqvist either. Still try for Backstrom or Nabokov. You have 3 goalie positions and I don\'t totally trust Thomas.
