I hear there is a good chance he will opt out of his 2nd year contract and return to the NHL, so is he worth picking up and holding on to him in a very deep league? Does he have the potential to be a starter? Thanks!
With all of the questions surrounding Mike Smith, there's more of a chance of Ramo coming back over this summer than him staying.
I don't consider him quality NHL starter material, but that's not to say he's not capable. He just needs to get some good playing time in the AHL. If he can build some momentum, he can absorb experience and certainly turn into a starter. But I wouldn't expect him to log any NHL minutes season ... as of right now.
Things could change. Just have to see what happens come July 1st.
I wouldn't count on it. Didn't he leave for the KHL due to a lack of opportunity? He doesn't scream sure-fire NHL goalie so I don't see why he'd come back for another AHL season...
