Default Need help ASAP for prospect draft of keeper league

We are drafing players with 0 NHL games for inaugural prospect draft, so we can pick any player drafted in the past who has not yet played an NHL game. Tese guys are for our farm team, so I don\'t care if they are a few years away.

I have picked two forwards so far (Duchene and Colborne) and am now looking for a decent defencemen, but will take the best available player. I am looking for the best offensive player with powerplay potential at the position.

Here are some of the guys I have to choose from that I am considering. My next pick after this is about 25 away, so I need to take that into consideration.

Please help, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Jakub Kindl - D
    John Carlson - D
    PK Subban - D
    Jake Gardiner - D
    Tyler Ennis - F
    Kyle Beach - F (PIMs?)
    Michael Del Zotto - D
    Ryan McDonagh - D

Also, any thougts on Robin Lehner as a goalie?

    Thanks for your help

Still some decent players available...I would rank the players you listed as follows:

    John Carlson - D
    PK Subban - D
    Michael Del Zotto - D
    Jakub Kindl - D
    Tyler Ennis - F
    Ryan McDonagh - D
    Jake Gardiner - D
    Kyle Beach - F (PIMs?)

WSH is very high on Carlson, he jumped many of his prospect peers this season (Godfrey, Lepisto-traded and perhaps Alzner). Subban had a solid season and a great WJC. MDZ is an offensive whiz. Any these 3 would make solid picks. Unless your league counts PIM don\'t bother with Beach.

Other prospects Dto take a look at are Kulikov and Rundblad.

    Carlson is your man.

With the Lepisto trade, Carlson is the top ranked D propsect for Washington. I think he may not have as much skill has some of the other guys on your list (though even that is debatable), but he is certainly in the best situation to flourish ala Mike Green. I\'m not saying he will get as many points as Green, but I think most people agree that Green is getting in the neighborhood of 20-25 pts more playing in Washington than playing elsewhere. Chances are Carlson\'s totals will also be boosted 20-25 pts playing in Washington.

    Thanks guys.

Karlsson and Kulikov have already been selected. It looks like Carlson is the consensus so far. Will he get much PP tim with Green in Washington?

He will never get as much PP time as Green, but there is enough space for both of them to get decent PP time. I could see Green and Carlson on the point with Semin, AO, and Backstrom up front. And even if they decided to go with 4 forwards and Green on the #1 PP unit, Carlson will run the 2nd unit and the 2nd unit will still have AO and likely Semin on it as those two tend to play the entire 2:00 on the powerplay.

And if Green continues to miss 15-20 games a year due to injury, Carlson will step right onto the #1 PP unit.

    Thanks again guys.

I picked John Carlson. I was close to taking Subban, but I went with the consensus.

    Now onto a goalie.

    Any thoughts on these guys?

    Lehner
    McCollum
    Koskinen
    Roy
    Bobkov
    Hackett
    Lee
    Tokarsky
    Anyone else??

If anyone has a top 5 or 10 goalie list, it would be appreciated.

The following guys are already gone:

    Gustavsson
    Allen
    Pickard
    Markstrom
    Enroth

    Thanks again

As far as goalies go, I really like Neuvirth. Now I don\'t want you thinking I am in love with Washington after recommending Carlson to you already, but like Carlson I just think Neuvirth is in a good position to get some playing time. I think Theo is done after this season and despite all the hype around Varlamov, I am not sold on his game. Not to mention that he is often injured. I just think Neuvirth is the goalie of the future in Washington.

After him, other goalies I really like are Bernier (but he is almost certainly already picked in your league even though he isn\'t on your list). If he isn\'t picked, grab him even ahead of Neuvirth.

I also quite like Bachman in Dallas and Roy in Edmonton. I could see both of them being the starters of the future for their squads after Turco and Khabibulin move on.

So, in order I would recommend:

Bernier (if he is available, which I doubt)
    Neuvirth
    Bachman
    Roy
    12 team, H2H, salary cap
    1 pt/G or A, 2 pts/W, 1 pt/OTL, 1 pt/SO

    Forward: B. Point, M. Necas, A. Debrincat, T. Zegras, J. Bratt, L. Raymond
