Savard + for Ryan +

My Stafford, Bieksa & Savard for Umberger, Shanahan, Bobby Ryan & Suter

This is a keeper league, we keep 1 goalie and 3 skaters for next year. We lose the pick that the keeper was drafted in. Bobby Ryan was drafted in round 16 so if I trade & keep him I lose my 16th pick. Savard was a round 4 pick.

Sundin, Koivu, Peverley, Berglund, Savard
Heatley. Hagman, Malone, Foligno
Gionta, Stafford, Lupul, Fehr
Phaneuf, Colaiacovo, Bieksa, Jack Johnson
Conklin, Backstrom, Price

Hmmm. As much as I like Bobby Ryan, I would not advise doing this trade.

While keeping Savard would mean you sacrifice your 4th round pick, he should be a perennial 100 point threat which would consistently place him in top10 in league scoring. That IMO is more than worth a 4th round pick. I assume without doing the trade your keepers would be Savard.Heatley.Price and then Phanuef.

I just feel that with so few keepers each year, you cant really afford to \'downgrade\' on a top 10 scorer. This is no doubt an \'off-year\' for Heatley. He should come back strong next season and form a great core along with Price.Phaneuf.Savard.

If you were to pull a trade now, It may be smart (if the owner is crazy) to bundle up Phanuef and Backstrom (since you wont keep him anyways) for Green. A trade like this would definately hurt you in the short term, but would give you the best d-man in the world as well as Price.Savard.Heatley. That would be a dominant keeper core that should/would keep you in the hunt for years.

savard is the definition of unflashy money, I had him in pools the last 2 years and value him much higher than I ever did b4
