I think the Iginla side of this trade is much better. MUCH better. Iginla may be a bit older, but he\'s outscored Kovalchuk the last two years. I wouldn\'t trade away a player like Iggy until I heard where Kovy ends up next year. If it\'s back in Atlanta, then I\'m not sure he\'s worth what Iginla is worth.

Also, Elias has some fire left in him, as he\'s showing this year.

Gilbert is the Oilers future PP Quarterback, and has much higher upside than Meszaros.

I agree. Iginla side of the trade is MUCH better. Iginla and Kovalchuk are both high end and Elias could continue to put up the numbers. Gilbert has been scoring aorund a point per game since Vishnovsky went out, and will be solid for years to come. This trade is NOT worth it.

I agree, I would NOT do this trade. It sounds like you are getting the worse end of the deal by far, especially if you are trying to rebuild.

When you are looking at multiplayer deals, try to break them down into smaller parts.

In this case:

Iginla for Kovalchuk - very even as players, probably good for you to get a little younger if you\'re rebuilding

Gilbert for Meszaros - bad idea, as Gilbert was producing even before Visnovsky went down. He is improving and right near the age when d-men really find their game in the NHL.

Elias for a 4th rounder - The guy is 8th in league scoring, he has to be worth more than a 4th rounder. Fantasy players treat him like he\'s old, but the guy is only 32.

Rebuilding trades are about making the other guy better now so you can have future benefits. This makes the other guy better now AND for the future.

If he will not upgrade the non-Kovalchuk pieces of his side end the discussion immediately and see if someone else at the top of the standings wants to talk.
