Torts announced last week that Del Zotto would be his PPQB. It was posted in another thread on here.

I am thin on the blue line like Spec7ral. So, any help from the farm would be fantastic!

Can't wait to see this guy on the Rangers!

I just filled my last roster spot with Del Zotto, taking a little flyer here and hope he lasts all year, here's to a quick start that gets him past the 9 gm tryout. I think if he has 1g & 2a or 3a after 8 games and is close to even +/- then he will stay. Dobbs has him as playing 73 gps and 30 pts in the guide, that would be awesome as depth on my team.

What a big bonus that would be if he hits 30pts this year.

Is he worth an add in a 12 team league or take a wait and see approach? Doesn't seem that it would be that difficult for him to reach 30+ if he is qb'ing the 1st pp unit.

I'm in a 12 team league (keeper) and i got him with my very last pick.
I think he is worth picking up.

I mentioned (I think in another thread) that Del Zotto might be a risky pick as he could be sent back to London (OHL) before the 10-game mark. This is always a possibility as Sather's decision to keep him after 9 games means Del Zotto reaches UFA status at a much earlier age, not an easy decision no matter how good he is. I actually have only seen him play a little so I have no idea whether he's been so good that it's laughable to htink he'd be sent down; if so, great, cause I just picked him up!

Yes, he's off to a great start. It's obvious, he has offensive skill -- that's been apparent for the last three years if you've watched the OHL.

I'm surprised he made the Rangers this year. I had heard that he had a good showing at NHL camp in summer 2008 after being drafted, but he still had holes in his game last year.

One thing that people should be concerned about is his lack of ice time. The last two games, he's had 11-12 minutes of ice time and close to half of that on the PP.

It's an odd role for a 19-year-old blueliner and one that I don't expect will continue. He will either earn Tortorella's trust and get more ice time (unlikely) or fail to gain it and go back to junior after nine games.

But then again, this is Tortorella we're talking about here. He doesn't follow the guide book. He writes his own.

I don't see any reason why MDZ will be sent down. He has already done more than most thought he would and he looks very controlled as the QB of the pp. I think he stays the season.

I could see it going either way...Letang looked good with the Pens in his first 9 games but got sent back anyways, but then again...the Pens had other options. It will be really interesting to see how this plays out...I could see it go either way.

Wow. This guy just keeps impressing.

Another huge thanks to Dobber Nation. I always sing your praises. Last year it was your input on guys like Goligoski and Brassard and this year it is with guys Benn and MDZ.

MDZ is second in D scoring and he has 7 points. And the guy is 19 frikkin years old. Can you imagine what it must be like in NYC making 850 large a year and being 19? The amount of women he must have at his feet....lol

Anyway, thanks again Dobber Nation. You guys are awesome.
