If he was actually sick with a bug he wouldn't be around the team as much as he is. There has to be an injury, or like vertigo causing him to be out. Or like he had mono and is having trouble getting back to health but is no longer contagious.

EF did say it's not just an illness keeping him out

Keefe just confirmed Matthews is out already.

Yeah, I mentioned mono a couple of pages ago. It seems plausible in that it's basically perfectly safe for him to be around others, but it can really do a number on your wellbeing for 2-4 weeks, and that timeline would line up with what we're seeing.

I don't know about mono... the guy was in perfect health, dominant in game 2 and then it just drops off a cliff. I'm guessing injury.

We also should realize that whatever it is, we might never know the full story or it might be labeled something other than what it truly is, as they will want to control the narrative such that Matthews does not look weak for failing to gut it out.

I don't think thats the reason for the secrecy. Most likely injury and they don’t want opponent to expose that on the off chance he comes back or they make it into the next round.

If it was covid or mono or herpes i dont see why they would feel the need to be secretive

O/T so we can all make some guesses would be nice though.
    So much for that idea.

Woll was a monster. Boston looked sluggish to start but another big win for the Leafs. Deja vu all over again for the B’s? Exciting stuff.

Gutsy performance by Toronto! Woll was fantastic. What the hell has gotten into Knies? He's been an animal the last two games! And Willie, Willie, Willie- great stuff! Choking 3-1 leads in back-to-back seasons would be quite the label to put on Captain Marchand and I'm here for it!!
