Part of me thinks the hurricanes are going to the cup final. Part of me thinks they're losing to the islanders in the first round. This was not the team to face early in the playoffs.
If the hurricanes win, they'll make it out of the east. So I'll take them in 7. But I smell a major upset here.

Carolina in 5. NYI might be able to sneak one out if the goaltending steals it. But, if NYI can get out of the first round, I think they'll be humming and make the conference finals.

Canes in 5. The Islanders don't have the required forwards to beat the Canes D system. Canes should alternate goalies no matter the result because that's what works best for them. Aho/Guentzel should lead the way.

isles played well enough to win but couldnt bury some really prime scoring chances (deja vu)

roy leaned on varly down the stretch so I'm not surprised he went with him for game 1

feels like there was more emotion in this 1 game than the entire series vs the canes last year

Islanders with only 12 shots and itching to give this one away. Wow, Canes dominant since their first goal. Isles backing the bus in the zone. Feels like a matter of time Canes tie it up.

Yeah, that's a tough loss. Went to bed early last night and was quite surprised to see the result this morning. I wouldn't expect the Isles to be able to outrun the Canes offensively, so if they can't clamp down once they get a lead in a game this series will be over early.
