Start Vasilevskiy against Toronto tonight?

I am currently in the playoff final H2H most categories of my pool.

The goalie stats are W, GAA and SV%. We need 8 GS minimum for goalies during the two weeks.

Would you start Vasilevskiy tonight against Toronto hoping for 2 goals against or less with a big win?! Or would you bench him because the odds of 4+ goals against are too high? Thanks.

Toronto has averaged 4goals/game in From Feb1st to now. I dunno. And the only times they've scored 2 or less in that period have been against Carolina, Boston, Vegas and NYI.

I'm very pro "start your stars", but I don't know about here. He has been hot though over the last month. 11GP, 8-2-1, 913s%, 2.45GAA.

If this is me, I'm betting on TBL to win and Leafs go Under in goals. But benching Vas in fantasy.

Start him. It's easier to sit someone later in the 2 week schedule.

If you lose with your stars at least you played them. Nothing worse than benching a star and they have a great night. I’d start him.

8 GS could be hard to come by at this stage depending who your other goalies are. Never know what team is resting who and when. For me I’d play him and secure the starts and then play benching game later in the matchup if need be.

All great advice here. Play him and hope he’s your #1 for a reason. Play the sitting game later after you’ve secured some starts.

BTW, not too sure how big a superstar Vasilevskiy is this year when 2 of the 3 goalie stats are GAA and SV%. I actually picked him up in the waivers two weeks ago... We are only 8 teams in our league.

Well, I was going to say I was surprised at Vasi being an FA in an 8 team league but when I think about it and then look at the actual numbers, well, ya, I get it. Sadly this is now the way things are with Goalies. A few years ago, there were a handful of goalies that we considered top tier and could be trusted to not totally demolish your fantasy hockey season. Vasi was one, Hellebucyk and Shesterkin the others. Look at their numbers this year. Hellebucyk gets a marginal pass.... IMO, They are all Flakes and there is not ONE that can be trusted to deliver consistent league leading type numbers over a two or three year span yet alone a career, forget it, it just doesn't happen anymore. Flakes!! Zero Goalie Strategy.

And I agree, go with Vasi the Flake, he's no less Flaky than the rest of the Flakes (:

I had the same conundrum about starting vasy.i also had talbot against Seattle but wasn't sure if he'd be starting (only was announced after this overseas guy was asleep). Glad I left vasy in. Talbot was good but Vasy was better. Never bet against your stars. There's a reason why you have them and there's a reason why they're Stars. And I pity the team that has to play Tampa in the first round.
