They need about 8 goalies of the future in hopes that one actually pans out....

Or doesn't get traded (Bobrovsky)

or doesn't have some life event that effects his ability to play. (Lindberg, Hart)

Capfriendly lists Fedotov as a 2024 UFA.
PHI's GM Fletcher had signed him in May of 2022, for the 22-23 season.
The first season says it was "toiled"... and the contract effectively became for the 23-24 (this) season.

So now... what happens with this current season?
Is this guy a UFA this summer? Or still PHI property?

This whole situation is pretty complex and not without uncertainty. When he plays his first game in the Flyers net, well then, I guess I'll truly believe it. Are the KHL and particularly the IIHF still players in this game? P7 points to additional complexity about his contract, length and when it might end, it's seems a bit of a mystery to me. Now, for some fun stuff, we love to rank guys and there is no more joy and/or humiliation in ranking players than there is with goalies, and particularly in ranking prospect goalies who have little or no NHL experience. So, where does Fedotov fit in?

i think pre-war Fedotov would have been top 15G in the NHL very quick...i have no idea what break from hockey and all what he went through did to him and his hockey carrier....time will tell..

Wait..... You thought Fedotov was going to become a top half of the league goalie before all his military issues? Were others as high on him? I've been holding onto him for a couple seasons and viewed him as a lottery ticket.

"Fedotov and Flyers general manager Danny Briere are set to meet the media on Friday at the team’s headquarters in New Jersey."

OK, sounds like he is already in Philly. This is moving faster than I would have thought, or, the reporting of the story is well behind the dates of the actual events occurring.

interesting, i got to think this is good news for those hoping some of those high profile current KHLers join NHL when their contracts expire. There is few of them. Im now bit more optimistic.

Another update, not sure if this is absolutely fact given the source, but it sure fits the direction this seemed to be going in:

Apparently, Sandstrom will be or has already been sent down and Fedotov will assume the backup roll behind Ersson, he could be on the bench for the Flyers game tomorrow.
