The Bennett/Wilson Appreciation/Depreciation Thread
I am comfortably in first place in the Sig League below, to the point where unless I lose 10-3 or worse for the remaining four weeks, I'm pretty much guaranteed the title.
However, I am really not happy with how Wilson and Bennett have been performing over the last month or so. They are essentially just getting some hits/PIMs which is good, but there is no offence at all. There are other options on the FA list that are performing much better (RWs: ERod, Neighbours, Rust, Nic Roy; Cs: Henrique, Zacha, Pinto, Schenn).
I'm torn as I can afford to stand pat and hope that Wilson/Bennett rebound (which they have a good chance to), but I don't want to lose out on a guy that will make a difference come playoffs.
The one wrinkle to the story is that both Wilson and Bennett would cost a 15th round pick to keep and both are still ranked very high in the league (Wilson #67 and Bennett #98), so both would get scooped up if dropped. Could explore a trade, but not sure I'd get anything that useful in return.

I have Wilson and he was great before Christmas. Since then, it's been HORRIBLE. I saw he was on the 4th line the other day. When I watch him play he seems fast for his build still and high energy, but he just seems disinterested or it looks like he doesn't know where he should be or go... like when you are practicing your swing in golf or baseball during the game or on the course as opposed to practicing in practice and playing in the game. He's not even being a pest or hitting like he was, and his PIM have dried up. Makes me wonder if he has a hernia or maybe some mental health issue going on.

I think I'm going to start him today over Connor... for two reasons. 1. I'm feelin/hoping Wilson woke up today hungry and will fight and maybe get a nice misconduct; and 2. I'm superstitious so I'm pretty sure I can kick start Connor's future hot streak (that is coming soon) by benching him today versus a stingy Demko. Fingers crossed!

Bennett has looked good as of recently. He at least gives me some hope that he can push for a solid fantasy season this year.
Wilson on the other hand does not. Wilson has provided some good value in the past when the Capitals offense was a powerhouse. But I’m afraid that time may have come and passed.
