Will Seth Jarvis be on PP1 this year? If so, what do you guys project for points and PPP?

I doubt it. Teravainen, Aho, Necas, and Svechnikov are likely on the top unit.

Jarvis will still have a good season, imo, by playing second line minutes and second unit PP. I could see him getting around 60 pts.

The issue with a really deep team like Carolina is that the offense is spread out. It drags down the potential for everyone, outside of perhaps Aho. Aho will get his points no matter who he plays with. Necas, Svechnikov, Jarvis, Teravainen...those guys could be +/- 10-15 pts depending on their usage.

I agree with SeaDawg, although I can see an argument that Jarvis provides a skillset the four listed do not (despite his size he’s better at puck retrieval and going to o the dirty areas than any of the other four save Aho). Unfortunately that specific role doesn’t really lend itself to PP production, so it’s unlikely that even if he does make it to PP1 it will provide a huge uptick in points.

The Canes have had Aho, Jarvis, Svechnikov, Burns and DeAngelo on the top PP in pre-season. It's pre-season, I know.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Hmmm I thought they were running a 3F/2D PP1 - Aho, Svech, Jarvis + Burns, DeAngelo?

Maybe I'm out of date though as things change quickly in the preseason.

I haven't followed pre-season. It's interesting that they are running two dmen on the top unit. However, I am skeptical they remain that way.

The have 2 pretty good PP D-men so they may run this for a while with the 1 D-man on PP2.

They didn't get DeAngelo to waste on the 2nd PP. He is, at this point in Burns' career, better on the PP and I see him sticking on it the whole season.
I see the Pens doing the same with Karlsson and Letang.

So far, Pittsburgh has both on PP1. Karlsson is running the point with Malkin and Letang is actually playing up front, as weird as that sounds.

Ottawa and NJ could also both run a 2D setup on the pp. They definitely have the personnel to make it work.

Yes, and it was terrible and EK65 became visibly frustrated at one point… but I also think that they will stick with it as it may just need reps.

Carolina and Pittsburgh are data-heavy, smart teams. The evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that a 4F-1D PP runs a 3F-2D setup out of the building. Carolina and Pittsburgh will both have 4F-1D setups by the end of November or they will wallow in PP obscurity until they do. Zero chance the Pittsburgh PP has any level of effectiveness with both Letang and Karlsson. Same with Burns and DeAngelo. Burns and Karlsson (the two best offensive talents of those 4) already proved it doesn’t work, together.

This is a fair point and may indeed become the outcome... though I'd argue it's a bit more nuanced than straight 3/2 vs 4/1 debate. Guys have to have styles that mesh too. Like how Crosby and Kessel never worked at ES but Kunitz/Dupuis/etc did. Do these guys' styles 'mesh'? I'm not sure. So I can get behind reverting to a 4/1 but could also see a 3/2 having longevity if the ingredients are right. Just anecdotal though - can't say I've researched how many 3/2 PP1 set-ups have lasted recently.
