How do you overcome.....or am I overthinking?

Had our annual draft this past weekend. 8 teams, points only G=1 A =1 Wins = 2 Shutouts =3

I drafted 6th overall and my draft did NOT go according to plan.

I missed on all Oiler PP players, I missed on all NJ devils who I think will score many goals as well.

How do you all manage when you miss clear players to target like ANY Oiler who plays PP1?

My team for what its worth:

C: Thompson, Eichel, Thomas, Stephenson, Zacha
LW: Robertson, Connor, Bertuzzi, Teravainen, Smith
RW: Rantanen, Boldy, Barzal, Duchene, DeBrusk
D: Heiskanen, Dunn, Werenski, Matheson, Chabot, Theodore
G: Georgiev, Hellebuyck, Vanecek

Am I over worried about missing any of the power house teams like Oilers/Devils?

Any weaknesses you see on my team I need to address? I hated my draft results but slowly accepting it.

Only 3 players I see that I'm not too crazy about:

Turbo, Duchene, and Debrusk. Matheson is an upside swing, but a reasonable bet.

I've never drafted an 8 team league so it's hard to say where you'd be at on the curve but I can't find any significant deficiencies in your roster either.

you're too concerned with specific teams players, still plenty of great options on your team, focus on that. Your defense could overall be very prolific.

Agreed. Sure it's great to know Oilers PP will score but there is only 5 on PP1 and assuming McDavid, Drai went 1-2 you've got no shot at them. It is worse if you reach on an RNH because you "have to have an Oiler PP guy!!"
8 team league you look solid, there will be talent on the waiver wire so if you can make moves weekly you should be quick to grab the hot hand, especially if the hot hand is because a guy finds himself on line1 or PP1.

I guess I'll wait and see how it goes and get on the waiver adds if needed!
