    Default 2nd Goalie options

Doing inaugural Dynasty draft. Starting to look at my 2nd Goalie. Given our rules, I probably will want to pick a total of 4 goalies. I do want to be competitive this year, although my 1st goalie may not play a lot (Gustavsson).
Who would you pick between these for short-mid term results. I've listed many options so feel free to select your top 2-3. I hope to have a goalie that will play 50-55+ games.

It's easier to tell you who I don't like from the group: Elvis, Grubs, and Talbot

I like Markstrom and Calgary overall for a bounceback. Andersen has a great team and defense in front of him as does the Vegas goalies. Korpisalo has the least competition and with his big contract he'll receive prime deployment. If you're wanting 50-55+ games, Markstrom and Korpisalo are your best bets but Andersen and the Vegas goalies will probably have better rate stats. I don't have a very good read on the Vegas goalies so I'd probably go Markstrom but I'm not very confident in the pick. If I were drafting and all those guys were available, I'd probably draft another player and take who falls in the next round. Good luck.

If you want 50+ games, then you've got a list that's going to disappoint you.

    Merzlikins, Markstrom, Andersen, Korpisalo, Grubauer,

Guys who could reach 50 starts if they play well enough:
Markstrom, Merzlikins - I think these guys are the likely starter for their teams. Elvis has less competition, and both had bad years last year.

Good goalies who aren't durable or aren't getting to 50 starts due to competition:
Andersen - injuries and has 2 other guys who are NHL caliber.
Hill/Thompson - same team. I don't think either reaches 50 starts. That said this combo is tempting.
Korpisalo - Career high in starts is 37. I think Forsberg is more of an issue than most do. LA didn't see him as the answer.

    Avoid:
Talbot. He's injury prone, and not good last year at all.
Grubauer: has been awful in Seattle. He's got a bad contract, and the team should be willing to move him, if they could find a taker. I'd rather gamble on Daccord.

If Grubauer is your #1, you need to secure a decent tandem, and that may not be easy. Is that the list of all reasonable goalies that are left? If it is, you're not competing much this year unless you get lucky in net.

If you're picking a bunch of goalies there will be a lot of overlap in nights when they'd play so I'd want a high efficiency goalie like Andersen who will be a really strong play when he is confirmed starter.

Andersen- Probably in the best system to succeed and he was paid to be the starter this year.
Markstrom - Good goalie and the hope here is that he can bounce back. I don’t expect prime Markstrom numbers, but I expect him to be better than last year.
Korpisalo - Not a ton of competition and could be a good option if things go well.
Merzlinkins - Not sold that he has a big bounce back year and would not be surprised if CBJ looks to upgrade in net.
Hill/Thompson - there’s risk here in picking one and Vegas going in a different direction.

With wins are pretty heavily weighted and with saves at .25 that's just 4 saves to cancel out a GA so going volume games I think is the right call. Should gain points just in saves.
Merzlikins and Markstrom to just barely hit 50gp (hopefully). I think these are your two for sure's.

Thompson, Korpisalo, Andersen are the three I'm looking at for that last spot.

Andersen- Get you the W's but not as many GP. Also lesser shots against.
Thompson- If you think he will get the majority of the starts over Hill (and more then Andersen).
Korpisalo- Slightly less games (and wins) then Thompson, but little more shots against.

I think I would roll with Andersen especially if you have IR spots. Season before saw him get 52 starts. So if he's healthy I think they play him to that.

That limits you in games played though. I see value in getting more games in. Saves should accumulate you points even if the wins aren't coming.

Kuemper, Hart, Husso and Bobrov are also available. The first 3 of them should also see a lot of games. Ideally I do want one that will also be good mid-term. So maybe Hart would not be a bad option with the chance he could get traded.

I want all of those 4 guys you just listed as individuals over almost all of the first group given the scoring system. All should provide volume. Two of them (Hart & Husso) are not old. You could convince me that Markstrom & Elvis will give you the same amount of volume.

Honestly, I'd grab Hart. He's 25, and about to enter his prime as a goalie. He's a starter on a bad team that shouldn't be traded unless they really, really, really want to tank. If he gets traded, he becomes the starter.

I'd go with Markstrom and the Andersen. I think Calgary bounces back this season with Sutter gone.

It's 2 goalie starts, but you can switch daily so having many of them feels like is going to be the key to winning this league.

So in that case I would go with a high efficiency starter like Andersen. You won’t get as many gp out of him but with four goalies you are going to get overlap anyway and lose games. Like what metaldude26 said
