    Default Comrie or Ned

As a depth goalie option, (3rd string goalie insurance option behind my main 2 goalies), who does everyone prefer in a keeper dynasty league?

Comrie or Nedelijkovic? Wins, GAA, Saves, SV%

Both will likely be backups at best, but either of them could be pushed down to being a 3rd string goalie for their teams with Levi and DeSmith around.

Let's start with Nedeljkovic evaluation NEXT WEEK - say August 7th.
The rumour mill is that PIT may be working with a trade for Karlsson.
They are holding three goalies that require waivers (Nedel being #3).
There's small chance that PIT moves the more-expensive DeSmith.
And... if they do... then having the PIT backup >> Comrie.

If PIT's roster, say, August 7th - still shows 3 goalies and Karlsson doesn't seem incoming...

    Then... I'd prefer Comrie.

While Levi is clearly BUF's top goalie of the future... I do believe they'll give him bulk start in AHL for Oct/Nov... maybe Dec.

They should make sure his confidence is good.
And they should test drive UPL at NHL-level to see if he still has upside.

If UPL slips... they'll shift to Comrie - give him a chance.
Comrie (I owned him in a league last year) is an enigma.
Last year, in March... he gave up TEN goals to Dallas - went down with injury for a week.
Comes back... and puts up a SHUTOUT.

10gaa to 0gaa - back-to-back (separated by two weeks) starts.

So... Comrie - I think they also want to see what they have there.
If he absolutely BLOWS - then they probably push Comrie through waivers - and he'll clear... if he stinks.

OK... so... you don't want to hear "If Comrie stinks" stories... LOL.
But that's how the BUF situation should play-out, I think.

BUF will find out if UPL and/or Comrie can give them adequate NHL-starts.
    And they'll do this:
    i) Because they really shoudl develop Levi's confidence at AHL level, and
ii) Levi hasn't played over 50gp in previous seasons as a NCAA goalie (with some NHL starts last year)

So... to lean on Levi... they could burn him out.
And... BUF might make playoffs... so there's more starts there.
In OTHER words... BUF has to be careful not to burn Levi's confidence and not to burn Levi's long-run yearly stamina.

So... Comrie WILL get NHL starts.

    I don't really like either.
    Short or long term.

Comrie is a placeholder for Levi, at best.
I'm not convinced Levi should get much NHL action this year TBH.
But Buf. might not have a choice.
Unless, they're in on Gibson or Hellebyuck - as they've been rumoured all summer to be.

Pitt has run back the Jarry DeSmith combo for several years.
There's trust in the organization in the duo.
Ned is insurance for the pending Jarry injury.

To consider either, this needs to be a really, really deep league. Like 16+ teams (16 at the absolute minimum)

Personally, I'd be value hunting a Copley, Talbot, Woll... whoever ends up Ott's back up.

You'd be better off looking at Silov in Van or Broissoit in Wpg, honestly.

    or...
Ingram might be the best undervalued secret of them all.

I'd look at all these names (and more) before Ned or Comrie.

Thanks Lucafen4! This is an 18 team league, so pretty deep.

I'll check out some of the goalies you mentioned to see if there is a deal to be had there, cheers.

I agree, I wouldn't be so hot on either of them. IF Jarry gets injured I think Ned can't handle the job. Comrie is a pure placeholder for whomever the Sabres are looking for in the future. Likely Levi. But hopefully there are way better options like Woll or Schmid (probably gone in your league). If you have to take one of those I would go with Ned just because that team is in win now mode. Good luck.

I'd be willing to bet that the phrase "hey Pengwin7, could you please elaborate" has never been spoken.

I do agree though, albeit with less verbosity.

I pretty much wrote off Ned a long time ago, if you have to choose one it's Comrie. There's still a chance he decides to play like he's capable on a consistent basis.

Francouz is a couple tiers above those guys right now. I like Ned longer term than comrie.

    LOL. Fist pump.
Nedeljkovic is now the #2 in PIT.
He's the pick in a pure Comrie vs. Ned battle.
(I'm not entertaining any other options - OP only.)

Ned for me. Pittsburg is still a contender and if and when Jarry goes down with injury it looks like Ned gets the starts. I think many of us forget he was once considered the future for CAR. I think he could surprise. He’s young enough still and Pittsburg doesn’t have a whole pile of options at this point.
