Let's start with Nedeljkovic evaluation NEXT WEEK - say August 7th.
The rumour mill is that PIT may be working with a trade for Karlsson.
They are holding three goalies that require waivers (Nedel being #3).
There's small chance that PIT moves the more-expensive DeSmith.
And... if they do... then having the PIT backup >> Comrie.
If PIT's roster, say, August 7th - still shows 3 goalies and Karlsson doesn't seem incoming...
Then... I'd prefer Comrie.
While Levi is clearly BUF's top goalie of the future... I do believe they'll give him bulk start in AHL for Oct/Nov... maybe Dec.
They should make sure his confidence is good.
And they should test drive UPL at NHL-level to see if he still has upside.
If UPL slips... they'll shift to Comrie - give him a chance.
Comrie (I owned him in a league last year) is an enigma.
Last year, in March... he gave up TEN goals to Dallas - went down with injury for a week.
Comes back... and puts up a SHUTOUT.
10gaa to 0gaa - back-to-back (separated by two weeks) starts.
So... Comrie - I think they also want to see what they have there.
If he absolutely BLOWS - then they probably push Comrie through waivers - and he'll clear... if he stinks.
OK... so... you don't want to hear "If Comrie stinks" stories... LOL.
But that's how the BUF situation should play-out, I think.
BUF will find out if UPL and/or Comrie can give them adequate NHL-starts.
And they'll do this:
i) Because they really shoudl develop Levi's confidence at AHL level, and
ii) Levi hasn't played over 50gp in previous seasons as a NCAA goalie (with some NHL starts last year)
So... to lean on Levi... they could burn him out.
And... BUF might make playoffs... so there's more starts there.
In OTHER words... BUF has to be careful not to burn Levi's confidence and not to burn Levi's long-run yearly stamina.
So... Comrie WILL get NHL starts.
