What I am surprised by is how much more money hes getting than Raanta who had the better season

People just look at the stats for goalies without considering context. Andersen has proven to be a quality goalie.

Look at the game log--it's insane how easy of a ride Raanta had.

Andersen played every top game when he was healthy, while of the 27 games Raanta played, he got to face:
- Montreal x3
- Detroit
- SJ
- Arizona
- Ottawa x2
- Chicago
- Columbus
- Philadelphia

That's nearly half his games against very bad teams. Compare that to Andersen's game log and it's night and day difference in the quality of competition.

Perceived value matters. Andersen has been labeled the team's main guy for most of his career. Raanta has played more than 33 games once and that was in 2018. He's a quality backup.
