    Default McCaan Vs Mercer ROS?

Just trying to find a Kaprizov replacement for the rest of the season as I am trying to hold onto the lead in a one year points only league. McCann & Mercer are both available so wondered which one you would lean towards?

McCaan is the guy in Seattle , i probably go with him. I think Mercer is better player but for this year production i think he has too many bodies in front of him.

Mercer is playing 20 minutes a night, top line & 2nd pp, way more sustainable than 20+ % shooting McCann, so the so called guys in front of him do not appear to be slowing him down, been a stud the past 6 weeks.

McCann and he is having a good year and is currently hot putting up 13 pts over his last 10 games. Mercer is beyond hot putting up an incredible 18 pts in his last 10 games. However, ROS, what pace is more sustainable? Ah, that would be neither. This could end up being close, but when both these guys come back down to earth I think that McCann is the more proven and consistent producer and I'm leaning in his direction. That said, you say both of these guys are available. What does that mean? I find it unlikely both are FA in a 14-team dynasty league so I'm assuming you are looking at a trade? That being the case, the cost of acquiring one or the other is a key factor. I can't help but think that steady Eddie McCann may come at considerably less cost than the currently Mercurial Mercer? I'm speculating here, but all things considered as I have touched on, I'd be surprised if McCann was not much better value acquisition than Mercer ROS. This, BTW is based on ROS which is what you had asked about. In the longer term, give me Mercer.

This is a one year points only league that is different than the one on my signature. Both McCann & Mercer have not been drafted. In this league we have 3 trades allowed before Allstar weekend and 3 after. I have one trade left and am looking to replace Kaprizov. Sounds like either player would be fine but I agree McCann is on the number 1 PP while Mercer is on second unit PP. However McCann's high shooting % does stand our as a possible regression adjustment. Thanks for the feedback, I will sit on this overnight and pull the trigger tomorrow!

Mercer all the way. Guy is firing the puck a TON! He's playing prime minutes and getting tons of deployment. Even though NJ is loaded, his ice time isn't slowing down. If anything, his situation is only getting better.

McCann has lots of unsustainable metrics this year and he is not likely to keep this up. Could he? Sure, he could but it's unlikely where Mercer is more of a sure thing.

FWIW: I targeted Mercer this year around mid season as a player to acquire in keeper leagues. Haven't been disappointed in my moves in the slightest!

Mercer looks dangerous just about every shift and that line with Hischier is rolling. Easy decision for me. Mercer!
