Yep. I don't like the term stud goalie but if we are going to go with that, then Shesterkin, Vasi and Sorokin are it, I guess. Throw in Hellbuyck as well perhaps. As for Samsonov, I don't think he's currently in the conversation as to what constitutes a stud goalie which for me is excellent and consistent numbers year after year.

Yup I agree with the above.

Shesterkin - Good young goalie on a team that looks like they will be good for the next few years.

Vasileskiy - good goalie on a team that will likely decline. but I expect there decline to be slower than the Islanders incline.
That is why I would place Vas ahead of Sorokin.

Sorkin - good goalie - team that you would think would get better, but is taking a long time to do so.

The thing that gives me some pause on Sorokin is that when next season starts, he'll be 28. Feels like he should be much younger, but he's close to the end of the normal goalie prime years period. He's one year younger than Vas, but has played about 300 fewer regular season games in the NHL. Next year should be Sorokin's best career NHL year with Varlamov (probably) moving on.

I differ slightly from the others on the top two as I have Vas still on top. Shesterkin close behind, but still behind for me.

Then a pretty decent gap before Sorokin and Samsonov even further behind.

    Appreciate all the input.

I just wasn’t sure on Vasilevskiy. I’m totally biased. TB is one of my favorite teams. And Vas is a favourite player. Didn’t know if he had been bypassed by Sorokin.

"Stud" makes me cringe. For skaters, ya OK maybe, but for goalies .... this year's stud is next year's bum, hell this week's stud is next week's bum .... you get the idea (:

I get it. Actually I should have thought about first. My studs last week , Vasilevskiy giving up 7 to Florida and Sorokin giving up 6 to Vancouver just about sunk the whole week .
Studs to duds in 60 minutes flat. Lol

There are goalies not listed here that also make up the tiers.
    Top tier:
    Shesterkin
    Vasilevskiy

    Second tier:
Sorokin - I need to see more team success

    --stud goalie cutoff--

    Third tier - non-stud:
Nobody you posted is here, yet.

    Fourth tier - non-stud:
Samsonov - he can get to the third tier by cementing the starting job over the perennially overrated Matt Murray for the rest of this year and next.

i think that once Samsonov is the starting goalie for next few years in Toronto he will rival all these guys....obviously small sample size but he has best GAA from these 4 and second best SV% this year...he is down the list in overall standings in most leagues as his volume is low due to injury and fact that for some reason Toronto wanted Murray to be the guy....He was always supposed to be as good as other Russian goalies but had rough start...i think he has arrived, time will tell

for now tho i agree he is 4th on this list..i would not throw him way down into basement tho
