Default Fleury thus far and ROS

Guy in my league is already done with fleury (5th round pick) and wants to just roll with NYR duo. He asked for E Kane for Fleury and Wilson which I don’t like at all but does anyone think fleury can improve and be a good 2nd goalie for me?

He has Panarin so I was thinking of countering with Trocheck for Fleury. Otherwise I’ll just say no and keep my current goalies.

If someone is trying to trade Fleury away now, they can't also pretend in their offers that Fleury has the same large value that he had two weeks ago. That Kane offer is garbage, of course. If he wants to dump Fleury then I'd offer a bench player or one of your lesser starters and say that it looks like Fleury is cooked but you'd be willing to roll the dice.

I agree, it's clear he's trying to trade Fleury as though he didn't allow 11 goals in 4 periods. Wouldn't accept this offer before the season began and won't now.

So you're suggesting a counter of Necas/Jenner/Bjork type player?

Fleury has been garbage for a few years now regardless of what team he is on.

I actually grabbed Gustavsson when i had a spare spot(Won my week by a comfortable margin) just to mess with the Fleury owner as a joke(We are buddies) when he sent me a trade offer.

Closer to Jenner, I'd think. Fleury's almost 38 years old. The only saving grace here is that last year, Fleury was terrible in October and great in November, good in December, and then ok most of the rest of the way. Maybe that pattern could repeat.

Based on what MAF has been so far at most i be giving up second round pick...i think trocheck is too much honestly....However, if he does bounce back and has .910sv% for rest of the year, he would be worth the risk and maybe even giving up Kane since you would get Wilson back who is just slightly worst...

I'd avoid Fleury everywhere. He is the most overrated goalie of my lifetime. He's an above-average goaltender who played on a team with excellent skaters and got an oversized amount of credit. This could also describe Matt Murray, both of whom are seen as guys who've lead teams to multiple cups.

He's had 3 years that were excellent, 2 of which were in Vegas. 2007-08 in Pittsburgh then 2017-18 and 20-21 in Vegas. He's had a couple other very good years, and then a bunch of above average to below average years with the stinkers here and there. He has been generally able to stay healthy, which helps with wins, which I view as a team stat, not a goalie stat.

I tend to use goals allowed % & goals saved above average to analyze goalies.

Thanks all for the comments. I think looking at his stats year-by-year paints a better picture of Fleury.

I'll contemplate countering with an average forward or just rejecting outright.
