Keeper Decisions - 2022

My Roster:
C: Kuznetsov, Eichel, Schenn (LW,RW)
LW: E.Kane (RW), Connor, Forsberg, Stuetzle (C)
RW: Pastrnak, Marner, Meier (LW)
D: Carlson, Bouchard, Theodore, Chabot, Power
G: Hellebuyck, Gibson, MAF
NA: Rossi

I think my Keepers are:
Marner, Pasta, Eichel, Connor then I have no idea for the next 2. They all seem to be the same tier of players.

Any input would be a solid time burner. I know a lot depends where come guys could land like Kane, Gibson, and Forsberg, but hey it's the slow season!

I think you have to add Carlson to the list of 4 you have.

a goalie that can be super unpredictable!

The obvious but not so easy answer is explore a trade for those brink guys like E.Kane, Forsberg, Chabot, Theodore.....

Hellebuck for sure is a keeper, winnipeg had an off year, but besides shesty and vasi, the only other keeper goalie should be Helle, he plays a ton of games. JMO

Dark horse is Bouchard, he looks primed to take the next step, id consider him or Carlsson, depending what you think your team can do this year

I think Hellebuyck is a clear choice as a keeper, despite a somewhat disappointing year. He should bounce back, and a coaching change (potentially Trotz) could have a huge impact on team defence. He's one of the few goalies that should be kept in your format.

And while there are a few other keeper candidates up front, you should likely keep a dman, which would be Carlson.

I agree that Helle should be kept even coming off a down year.

After that a case could be made for many of your players. I do think that Carlson is probably the best option from a positional standpoint. I also really like Kane (if he stays in Edm) or Meier.

Helly and either Forsberg or Carlson would be my picks. I'd want to wait to see where Forsberg ends up but I also like Smurf's thinking of taking the Dman so you don't go into the draft with a hole at the dman position. Meier stood out until I noticed that hits were not a category.

So does this mean that you must keep one goalie as one of your six keeps? Lots of discussion about goalies here, but if you must keep one, Hellebuyck is pretty much a no brainer?

You can keep 0-1 goalie. Can't keep 2 or more (like if you had Vas and Shest you would have to choose between one or the other).

OK, that clears that up. While Hellebuyck is not a must keep I think he is simply your best option as a keeper for comparative value versus the other available forwards and defencemen. You just hope he returns to form. I think your next best option is Carlson. It's a bit risky, but I'm thinking he has a few more years of "star quality" left in him.

I’d actually be tempted to drop Eichel and keep Carlson. Then keep Helly and Theodore.

Tough call. You have some hard decisions to make that you probably won’t know the correct answer until hindsight kicks in haha.

I’d probably go Hellybuck and Meier. However, I could pretty much make an argument for any of your Dmen as potential options, depending if you want to go young or old

Carlson & Hellebuyck for me. I feel you want to keep a D, as you have good ones, and Hellebuyck is a top 5 goalie.

Helle is a must keep given a 12 team league. So Carlson and Helle plus your 4. If PIM or FW are that important, then you may have to decide between Pasta (who will disappoint for certain next season if half the team is injured and Bergy retiring) and Eichel or Kane (on EDM). Kane may not get you PPPs though, so I’d go between Eichel, Pasta and Carlson with Helle.
