News: The #NHL's salary cap is projected to climb $1 million next offseason to $82.5 million, though the billion-dollar debt players owe to owners is also likely to increase.
A look at the math, projections and frozen cap reality that's unlikely to thaw:

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

This is definitely "news-worthy", but FWIW this was already agreed upon in the new CBA, so this is new news in the sense of people probably didn't read the CBA, but old news in the sense of it was something that was already known and agreed upon.

Fair enough. I certainly wasnt aware that this was agreed upon, especially since all the talk around town was to expect a flat cap for a couple more years until the players paid back the esgrow owed to the owners.Originally Posted by rataylor22

Cap goes up by $1M. Twenty players on each team want a $500k raise.
