Default Lankinen Outlook Past this Season

What is Lankinen's outlook beyond this season?

Is he a starter next year or playing in a tandem? Is he a starter 3 years out (whether on Chicago or another team)? Or is this season a mirage and his play against Florida and Tampa a sign of things to come?

Goalies are voodoo. There is one sure thing in the goalie world today and his name is Vasilevskiy. Everyone else is, to varying degrees, a lottery ticket. I wouldn't hold expectations too high for Lankinen moving forward, but I wouldn't say he's likely going to be trash either. But he's certainly still an unknown quantity as 15-20 games does not a good goalie make.

The Hawks don't have anyone else in their system and with their rebuild they probably aren't spending much on a tandem goalie. If their defense improves, Lankinen should give some solid production.

Look around the league. Even teams with clear "starters" are giving their backups plenty of starts. He'll be one of their guys for at least a couple years though.

I think he will be around for a few years-or at least I'm hoping he will be, since I grabbed him at the beginning of the season and he's going to be a keeper in my dynasty team moving forward. He's still young and rough patches aren't out of the ordinary for young goaltenders. I'm holding for the foreseeable future.

I don't view him all that favorably

I question whether Bowman can rebuild that team, especially on the back end, and even if he does can we undoubtedly say Lankinen will be a #1? I have lots of doubts.

I think he's showing he's a NHL caliber goalie this year. Is he a starting caliber goalie? Maybe, but we know Subban isn't, and Delia is a question mark. So he's the best option moving forward that they have right now.

We'll know more next year, but I'm confident he's at worst a NHL backup.
