Default ROS -- Lehner or Demko

For a different league than in my sig, who do you like for the remainder of this season in a format counting Wins, GAA and SO?

Lehner seemed likely to be a top guy in this format coming in but his season hasn't really gotten off the ground yet due to injuries and MAF has shown himself quite well. Demko has obviously been lights out lately but the Canucks aren't quite as sound overall as the Knights. In any event, with Lehner activated off IR now, it's time for me to make a decision here.

I would go Demko. He has won the net and will get the bulk of the starts going forward.

Lehner being out gave Fleury all the opportunity to earn starts back.

In a league that has two counting stats and one peripheral stat... you need to go with the guy that gets the most starts. As long as he is not blowing GAA through the roof.

Agree with penguin hunter on demko, beginning of season he looked bad but lately has looked really good.

I lean more towards Lehner. Vegas will want to get Fleury some rest so think they'll split the net. Also VGK is way better defensively than Van. There is an argument for Demko as a keeper but Lehner will also be taking net more as Fleury ages.

This is a tough one. If you are in it for this year I think you have to go Demko. Too many question marks around whether or not Lehner is going to play and what type of quality you will get. The real tough choice would be picking which one for a keeper league.

Thanks, all. This particular decision is for a 1-year league (not the keeper league in my signature), so no keeper concerns. And a good split of opinions so far, which at least confirms that I'm not nuts for also thinking there's pros and cons to both making this a tough choice.

Agreed. I still see Lehner as a top 5 goalie in keeper leagues. He's an exceptional goalie on one of the top teams in the league, and Fleury is either gone this offseason or next, and even if he stays for 1 more year there is a chance he shows a lot of rust next year and is a full backup anyway.

For this year, I lean Demko for start volume, as others have said.

Next year is hard to figure.

Demko should have most of the starts due to the contract, so that's good, but Vancouver doesn't look good. Vegas looks very good, but something needs to give there, and I still think Fleury is the guy who gets moved or is the backup.

If I had to decide today Id go Demko but if you asked me again in September I might have a different answer. It all depends what happens with Fleury. If no Fleury or any other starter calibre goalie - Lehner. If Fleury is still there - Demko.

Given the Canucks Covid situation I wouldn't put much stock in any of their players unless you don't need them for a couple weeks.

I don't love Lehner right now but he will definitely get more games next week and the one following, imo.
