Default How long of a leash should Jarry have in one year pools?

Struggling in G cats (especially after Gibson imploded this weekend), but I think I'm losing the most patience with Jarry.

Pens can't seem to get it together defensively, the D just took another hit losing Letang and Dumoulin for who knows how long, and Jarry's rocky start has left the door open for DeSmith to pilfer starts in the tough Eastern divison. On top of that, looks like at least 2, maybe 3 games, in the next week will be PPD due to the Devils' Covid outbreak.

I added Reimer as a spot-start yesterday to go for a win, and now with news Mrazek is likely out long-term, I need to keep riding him. Also grabbed Demko because he and VAN have been coming together, and I doubt he'd last on FA much longer.

Doubtful I could get much for Jarry on the market but maybe it's still worth trying to shop him, just in case anyone has faith in the Pens. If not, is he a safe drop yet, or does he need a longer leash?

My G situation will still be far from ideal rolling Reimer, Gibson, Demko, but am I better off with or without Jarry now? Hate the idea of having 4G rostered, and could use the man-games from a forward position due to postponements.

I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping Jarry given your goalie situation. I think you should just sit tight this week and be thankful Mrazek is out while Jarry is having games cancelled.

    What other goalies are available?

Appreciate the perspective, maybe I am being too impatient

No leash. This season is a sprint. Even if Jarry comes back to bite you on another roster, he could drown you before you get the chance if you don't cut bait.

Did he ever even have a leash? Wouldn't that imply a solid body of previous play?

Like sands through the hour glass, so are the goalies in our lives......

Well, he had just about as terrible of a start to the season as anyone could have imagined, but I certainly wasn't going to cut bait after 2 games. Plenty of goalies have rocky starts before rounding into mid-season form, and Jarry played well last season and was looking in line for a sizable workload this year.

That being said, the combination of factors I mentioned in my first post now have me gnawing my fingernails wondering if and when it might start to get better. It's actually a bummer their series with the Devils is postponed now, because I think those would have been great "get-right" games for him.

He'll be dead weight on my bench through this week, but maybe PIT as a whole benefits from the week off.

Good points. I was perhaps being a little too cavalier and jocular. Jarry has had some stretches of good play and will likely turn things around at some point.

However, with the shortened season, and this being a one year league, you really don't have a lot of time to wait for him to find his game.

I agree this week off may help the entire team.

Dusting this week-old thread off with my tail between my legs. Jarry just isn't cutting it, he's gotta go.

Looking at the numbers, PIT actually gives up the 6th fewest shots/game yet is 4th in GA/game. Hard to say it's even the defensive injuries as both Letang & Matheson were back (still without Dumoulin though). Only 2 games next week, figure DeSmith has to get at least one.

I still have a chance at winning my matchup this week against the 1st place team despite losing all the goalie cats, but I can win those too with quality starts/wins from both Reimer and Oettinger (or maybe Cal Peterson vs Vegas).

With 1 move left for the week (4 total):

Should I try to replace Jarry and hope to double-win today with Reimer + Oettinger? Or should I snag Peterson, hope for the best, and get to use him next week vs SJ, SJ, MIN?

Alternative would be focus more on my forwards (currently only have 2 Cs), and maybe add someone like Domi, Texier, Verhaege, etc and just roll 2 goalies for the time being.
