The dog days of August are upon us, time for reflection. What is the single worst trade you have ever made? You don't get to state two or three. Nope. You have to narrow it down to one.

Worst one in recent memory I traded Marchessault straight up for Fabbri.... yikes

Blake Wheeler for Cam Ward.

This was after the 2011-12 season, and Cam Ward was coming off of seasons of 37 and 30 wins with 2.56/2.74 GAA and .923/.915 Sv%, while Wheeler had just had a breakout 64 point season in Winnipeg as a 25 year old.
The following season was the 48-game lockout year, but Wheeler finished with 41 points while Ward had 9 wins in 16 starts with a 2.84 and .908. Things only got worse from there. Ward never again eclipsed 26 wins or a .910 save percentage, and Wheeler rattled off seasons of 69, 61, 78, 74, 91, and 91.

I also traded Mark Stone for Kyle Palmieri last summer. Screw the stupid rules, I'm going to post all my bad trades. I still won the league, but that one stings.

I traded Grubauer for a 2nd round pick, ended up 12th overall in our upcoming 2019 entry draft. Whoopsie.

I wanted to own the Oilers 'Big Three" and traded for Puljujarvi (to match my McDavid & Draisaitl) on opening night 2017 in exchange for Gabriel Landeskog in a banger league. Ooof! In my mind, this trade cost me the championship.

about one third of the way into last season I traded Guentzel for Kopitar thinking Kopi would come on strong towards the latter part of the season. And it is a multicat position matters keeper league making Guentzel all that more valuable... still took home 1st place though, but don't have Guentzel for next season now

Last offseason for me. Trade was made during the league's initial draft but essentially ended up being trading away Atkinson and Vrana for Marchessault in a dynasty league.
