Well, he\'s eligible for it, but the transfer agreement situation isn\'t resolved yet, so right now he can\'t go there. They\'re working on it though.
Any news on whether or not he is allowed to play juniors this year? I\'m personally hoping he gets the next call-up from the Jackets. At least give him a shot. You can always send him back down after 9 games.

I think it makes more sense to play him in the AHL. At his skill level, I believe he will be able to dominate the Junior leagues. With this in mind, I would want to be in a challenging league. Let him feel what it is like to not be the best player n the ice. He needs to get used to that for a while at least. It is possible that he dominates the AHL. If that is the case, he will be called to the show. I not sure there is a helluva lot for him to learn by playing Junior.

I agree with you guys. He needs to be challenged and the AHL is best for now. However, from what I have been reading, he has looked very good in his first two games and had a goal in each. If he starts putting up multi-point efforts, that will definitely help his cause. The Jackets are improved offensively, but they\'re not that good. They could use his help when he\'s ready, which may be now.

The reasons I\'ve seen mentioned as for why he should play in the juniors are (1) that he should get used to the NA game where he can dominate and (2) that it\'s not as big of a risk that he will get injured compared to if he plays in the AHL. That\'s from Howson and Hitchcock. They intended to send him to Sudbury, but the transfer agreement thing forced them to send him to the AHL. Fortunately, he seems to be coping very well with that league, so when/if the junior situation is resolved, they might just let him stay in the AHL. The added bonus of having him in the AHL is, as has been mentioned before, that they can call him up whenever they want.
GO WINGS!
Is he the next one up as Dobber has predicted?

Only Howson and Hitchcock knows. Dorsett was recalled last week ahead of Filatov, so... Take predictions with a grain of salt, regardless of where they come from Hell, even take official statements with a grain of salt these days...

eligible or not, I think the Jackets want to give him a call up if possible. In Juniors, they can\'t call him up unless its an emergency. In the AHl, they can call him up anytime.
Hopefully he stays in the AHL.

Very interesting discussion...I too am wondering about Filatov. With what he showed briefly in camp, and what he is showing early in the AHL...shouldn\'t the Jackets be giving this guy a shot on the big club? He has a great attitude, so it seems and a good work ethic...seems like he would help the Jackets...as they don\'t score that many goals.

The information that we are missing comes with watching him practice and scrimmage a dozen or so times. Maybe the time off in the preseason means he needs to get into game shape? Mabye it was completely obvious to the coaching staff that he was not ready for the show? Mabye he is ready for NHL, but due to roster considerations, it better to have him in the AHL then playing 3/4th line in the NHL? Its all speculation from here.
That, along with his upside, is what makes this so interesting.

Well...looks like he will get a shot to show us all what he can do...Columbus has called him up, already posted by another in a different thread.

I hope they plan on giving him the minutes. Nothing worse than having one of your best prospects playing 5-7 minutes a night with no PP time.
I\'m wondering what line he will play on. Surely it will be the first or second. The first is struggling more than the second so he might just play there.
