I'd say he's definitely back within that window. Guy is skating now again so that means his tendon is ok to skate.... very good sign. But then it's likely he wasn't using that leg all that much for some time. He's going to have to build up muscle strength in that leg before he returns. 3-4 weeks is a reasonable expectation. I'd like to say earlier but unlikely

Coming back in the thick of a playoff race, probably a slow start and then an above average last 4-6 weeks

I expect he has a slow start to his return. I snapped the tendon in my pinky finger in April and my finger does still not work quite right. I often think to myself what a similar injury to an achillies would be like.

The NHL probably has a slightly better medical and rehab staff, but I see your point. Definitely can't be expected to jump right back in.

    "Probably" - LMFAO!! They better.

When I need to use my pinky I still have to 'think' about it, just a little bit. It is not natural like before. It is a dumb stupid injury.

I expect Carter will have nagging thoughts about his leg when he returns.

Definitely expecting him to come back slowly. I might even try to deal him for someone producing right before he comes back.

I mean, didn't we already go through this last year? I mean Huberdeau had a very similar injury. I would suspect that Carter has a similar performance trajectory once he returns... maybe a little less

Well Carter is also 7-8 years younger than Huberdeau....

Agree, which is why I said less than Huberdeau... The med staff won't let this guy back out there until he's ready to return... In which case the age factor would likely have more to do with his recovery time table (healing and muscle rebuilding) and a little less to do with performance - while it could also slightly depress his performance from Hubs. But again, it's not as though Hubs was playing at 100% upon his immediate return either. He'll likely be 75-80% the Jeff Carter we know

    Must be April 1st ? Carter is 33 born Dec.31, 1984 and Huberdeau is 24 born June 3, 1993.
I had to look it up because I thought Carter had been around for what seemed to be a long time .

Carter is still more than 2 weeks away. Will not accompany team on 7-game road trip that ends 2/22.

For Carter> Some reports say the earliest that he can come back is 22 Feb, leaving him with 22 regular season game to play in. Figure he might be rusty, and even if he is not, will he really play in all 22 games? Probably not. Just guessing, if he is 100% healthy, he plays in 18-20 of those 22 (maybe less if they want to rest him for the playoffs), then maybe 6/10/16 total? << WAG

Carter (ankle) is not expected to accompany the Kings on a seven-game road trip that begins in Florida against the Panthers on Friday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
    EDGE Analysis

This means that Carter should be out until at least Feb. 22. The Kings have fallen to fifth place in the standings, and coach John Stevens hopes the star pivot can "make big strides" while he stays home and continues to rehab his ankle. Fantasy owners of Carter have little choice but to wait out his injury, as he'd almost assuredly get scooped up if dropped in the virtual arena.
