From what Ive read he's been their best D in the AHL. You're the first person I've read today who's surprised by this choice.

he's basically an AHL dman.. he's never been a good bottom pair Dman for the leafs since they obtained him from Edm... Dermott's been pretty solid for the marlies as well.. would have been a good opportunity to give him a goOriginally Posted by Axeman33

Zero issues with the Marincin call-up. By all accounts, he's been good in the AHL. Zaitsev's a key penalty killer, Marincin was on the PK last year.
These are just a few of the writers I follow whos opinions I trust when they say he was the right choice and earned it.

I know he's been good in the A.. he just hasn't been good in the NHL... this guys confidence yings and yangs like Pinocchio's nose. If he struggles in a 5-6 role.. putting him in a 3-4 role with Gardiner is going to spell disaster. This wouldn't be the first player to play well in the AHL and not do well in the NHL.
