Kale Clague (CAN) intrigues me. He seems to be ignored in most formats but I'm a fan of his game and am excited to see him on a big stage.
Like others mentioned I'm also intrigued by the Devils draftees Boqvist (SWE) and Anderson (USA), not only because I'm a Devils fan but also because both are largely unowned in fantasy and are poised to be go-to guys on competitive teams.
The Sabres finally decided they would allow Alex Nylander to play for Sweden (http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/junio...d-junior-team/ .) I think he could use the confidence boost, hopefully come back to Rochester on fire.
Awesome thread!!!

There were some interesting names from Pronman's Athletic article this week.
@wwright88: Who are a few prospects playing at this tournament that fly way under the fan radar that you are excited to watch?
Pronman: Depends how the USA cuts shake down, but I like Dylan Samberg (WPG). Fredrik Karlstrom (DAL), Lucas Elvenes (VGK) and Fabian Zetterlund (NJD) from Sweden. Martin Fehervary (2018) from Slovakia.

Some weird cuts from Finland and Sweden - Luostarinen and Turkulainen from Finland and Elvenes from Sweden. I have no idea what they're thinking with those cuts - I thought all three guys would be top-9 options for their teams.
I guess that means there's room for some lesser-known guys to play a bigger role. Neither team has the kind of depth Canada has, so we'll see some new players now.

In one league with very deep prospect rosters (20 teams, 30 prospect spots per team), I added these players to my farm before the WJC:
Andrei Altybarmakyan, RW, RUS
Jacob Moverare, D, SWE
Fredrik Karlstrom, C, SWE
Mikhail Maltsev, LW, RUS
William Lockwood, RW, USA
Yegor Zaitsev, D, RUS
None of them were really worth anything before the tournament started but hopefully some of them have big performances at the WJC and then hopefully I can flip them after the tournament is over. If not, I can replace them with other long-shot prospects from FA. As you can imagine, pretty much all the names you can think of are already taken in that league. 600 prospects owned, I love it!
At least the three Russians are off to a good start so far despite a lazy team performance in the first game.
I'm not watching the Sweden game but looks like Moverare is playing on the top pair with Liljegren and carrying an 'A' on his chest. Karlstrom is playing on the top line with Andersson and Boqvist, and also getting 2nd PP time. (Stick tap to praba for putting Karlstrom on my radar.)
Hopefully Lockwood can surprise on the US team. Pretty much all CAN & USA players are taken already in that league.
This quote pretty much sums up my feelings on the tourney that I love so much.

Thankfully I take the tourney with a grain of salt when trying to evaluate prospects. That being said, I love selling high off this tourney.I’m ready to partake in the annual tradition of forming all opinions on a bunch of teenagers based entirely on how they perform over the course of the next two weeks

Hey guys,
I always like to add a WJC player each year (in hopes their value increases for another potential move or I could hold onto them).
This year I'm looking at a few guys, I can drop Atkinson and pickup one of the following...
Lias Andersson
Carter Hart
Would you drop Atkinson for either?

Joseph Woll is going to skyrocket up some radars with USA... yep, the SO was vs. Denmark, but he did what was expected. he was pretty much on par with Parsons last year...

Looks like Casey Mittelstadt is the Kaprizov of this year, although Lias Andersson, Klim Kostin and Martin Necas are definitely raising their stock as well. Mikhail Maltsev is a player who should be stashed in leagues with deep prospect systems - what a great tournament for the New Jersey Devils by the way.
For drat-eligible players, Brady Tkachuk is solidifying his top-5 spot and pushing for 3rd overall but Filip Zadina is right up there with him. Quinn Hughes has seen his stock drop a bit here - not much but mostly in comparison to those two guys. Martin Kaut has been a pleasant surprise.
Andrei Svechnikov has been good but there should be no question about Rasmus Dahlin's first overall status next summer after this performance - not that I had any but I know some people still had their doubts. Best D-man in the tournament so far, and I doubt we've seen any other 17-year-old D-men do that.
Biggest disappointments so far: Kailer Yamamoto, Janne Kuokkanen, Ryan Poehling, Riley Tufte and Tyler Steenbergen. Of course there's a long list of players who have been just OK but they were expected to be great - players like Tolvanen, Heiskanen, Heponiemi, Kyrou, Juolevi, Liljegren... Lots of Finns on that list, and I blame the terrible system they're using on their PP. But these players are still playing well and creating chances, so they could definitely get better before the tournament is over.
