Both good options long term but I lean towards Jones. I think he'll be more consistent and score more. He blocks a bit more and hits are close to a wash. They both shoot well for defensemen (I was surprised to see Jones ahead this season). I see Jones as a better point producer and that's what tips the scales.

Jones by a comfortable margin IMO. Ekblad I think settles into the 40-45 range generally. I still think its possible Jones becomes a superstar, 50+ type guy.

Ekblad will be like Alex Pietrangelo, very good dman who may occasionally hit 50 points. Jones will be more like Hedman at some point soon (couple of seasons) and will consistently put up bigger offensive numbers while still doing decent work in peripheral cats like BS, Hits and PIM.
