    Default Pavelski vs Drouin trade

I have Pavelski in a keeper's pool (details in sig), another owner offered me Drouin...not sure what to do here. Pavelski is having a dreadful start, he was a potential keeper of mine if he put up more than 30 goals, starting to believe that's NOT gonna happen. Sharks are having a tough time and their cap situation is not good at all for a team whith their window that's pretty closed.

Then there's Drouin, having an OK start to the season, but the Habs are going nowhere fast. He's a potential keeper too, but I'm not that sold on him yet, he's good and all but he can't seem to rack the points.

What do I do here ? To me, Pavelski has a higher upside, because of his potential to put up 30 goals, but I'm not so sure that's gonna happen. Drouin is good, but will he really turn out to be a #1C ? (Thanks MTL). Not sure about that. Thanks for the replies !

    Tough one,

Drouin hasn't had the greatest start to the year. I do think he has the higher ceiling, but whether or not he hits it is another story. I have him in my one league, and I'm growing tired of the inconsistencies.....however I do believe Montreal could be better.....

I think I would hold off on the trade for now....

This is a tough one only because of age. Word is Pavelski is injured and I tend to lean towards keeping him until we find out more about that and give him a chance to go through a hot stretch.

As a Sharks fan, I traded Pavelski weeks ago.

There is a state of the sharks thread a few pages back in which I give my thoughts. Few sharks fans think he will be back to his 30 year old scoring now that he is 33 and all of us worried about how quick he would decline when his skating declined.

Yeah just saw that thread. The Sharks used to be my second team, so I watched them quite a bit. His skating was already subpar years ago. Sad

you hold Pavelski until he gets hot - then you trade him for a player with 70+pt upside who is ice cold -- you suffer the slumps to properly achieve the ultimate goal. Replacing Pavelski for as close to full value as possible.

Pav - Drouin 1-1, is not enough

As a Pavs owner in a pointy only dynasty, I'd be pretty happy with a Drouin offer. SJ window has closed and Pavs is on the downside, seemingly accelerated by SJ struggles overall. Toss in a potentially nagging injury and I'd take the slight hit in production this year for a decade of Drouin.

Hmm. Only 8 keepers so Drouin not likely gonna make the cut. So it is really this year only. That said I think I stick with Pavelski. I think he is a safer bet for production this season even with his slow start and mysterious injury. Drouin and Montreal are just not looking very good so far this season. In a full dynasty, however, I would definitely take Drouin.

My bad, missed that it is only for this year. If that is the case, then roll with Pavs

Thanks for the replies guys, yeah since it's pretty much this year only since we only have 8 keepers, Pavelski is probably a safer bet. I'll trade him when he gets hot (let's hope he does

I think I'd take the deal. I think it'd be easier to deal Drouin when white hot than Pavelski due to youth and Habs factor.

A lot of miles on Pavelski. I'd take my chances with Drouin even if you're contending.

Just shipped Pavs for The Real Deal

I'm going for it this year (going for the 3 peat) and while this may be a real sell low, I am pretty happy to move on from Pavs. Looks like Couture is taking over and combined with the overall decline of the team, this injury really sealed the deal. Check out the article below, the most telling part is that coach comes out and says that he has been playing hurt for a while and most guys wouldn't even be out there. Pretty telling that this is something that will linger and its all about pain tolerance which will mean slowing production, or it will require significant rest or surgery or whatever. Either way, not his year and I don't see much in the way of a turnaround.

For me, Neal is 3 years younger, having a monster year and locked in on the top line and PP. Even a few weeks ago this would have been laughable but as of today I'm happy with the swap.

Back to your deal, I'd probably either roll with Drouin or see if you can get a producing vet who you know you will drop after the year.

I'm unsure how Evander Holyfield will help you, but good luck!

Hey guys, I finally traded Pavelski for Drouin, with picks swaps and other considerations. Points wise, we're probably looking at something similar, with Drouin having a higher upside if he can play on the wing, plus being a potential keeper.
