I know what you mean buddy. I had him last season and even though he scored a decent amount of points, I was expecting more. You would have thought he would have gotten out of the gates a little faster given he is in a contract year.
Tavares play over 24 minutes and not get a point!! This guy is so frustrating! I know it's early... I know... I just needed to vent to someone and my wife just doesn't understand...

Ooooooh but wait MZac, didn't you see that sweet shootout goal he scored to win the game?!? Thanks for nothing!

Very subpar start. But slow starts are pretty much a given now with JT.

he isn't the only one struggling out of the gate
He did take 4 shots so he isn't just gliding out there, 3 min of PP time and 1 of PK
I saw the game and he is still the best player on the ice, although Barzal had an amazing game
I think he is a quite likely a buy low candidate so move to acquire him pronto
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
Tavares is scoreless in 5 of his first 6 games this season. Really frustrating.

Isles have gotten little from the blueline and the PP has been awful.
Lee-Tavares-Eberle ain't clicking either. It may take a while for JT & Eberle to get going.
I think they'll get it going eventually.
But yeah... I think Tavares is as good as gone after this season.
Speaking of which - I thought Barzal looked really good last night.
If JT does leave, he could be a beautiful player to own given a C-slot opening up.
[Technically, the Isles scored 3 goals, 4th being the OT win. And since they scored early, they were sort of protecting that lead for most of game.]
It might be time for the Islanders to put Bailey on Tavares's wing again, as things aren't looking very good with Tavares and Eberle. Eberle might be a better fit with Barzal anyways, so that might be worth trying.
The Islanders will probably go into another rebuild if Tavares doesn't re-sign. They don't have much elite talent on their roster or coming up. Barzal is very good but not really elite. Ho-Sang is also good but probably can't carry the team offense. It's likely the Islanders don't get much elite talent in any Tavares trade either, more likely just a few very good pieces.
Jack Hughes is looking like the next great thing and he's draft eligible in the summer of 2019, so that might be a good target for the Islanders...
That's more like it JT. It appears it's either a goose egg or a 3 point night. Nothing in between. Here's hoping for more of the latter.

Lucky to be 4-3-1 but the chemistry is slowly getting better - getting production from an assortment of forwards will pay off in the long run . The d-pairings outside of leddy/boychuk are a work in progress .I feel bad for de haan and hickey as their partners are being switched around often .
JT seemed to have a bit more jump in his step last night compared to first 7 games . My only guess is the hamstring injury is still bugging him.
I'm a Tavares owner and feel your frustration. The scrubs he has to play with on a day to day basis is almost criminal. Is there another team in the entire league that surrounds its superstar with less talent than the Islanders? Hopefully he leaves in the offseason to punish that inept management group. Anyways I have him pegged as a 30-30 guy moving forward. Unless there is a change of scenery or a massive talent infusion that's about what you are going to get. We all need to alter our expectations unfortunately.
