I probably wouldn't but if you want to pick him up, I would drop Abramov in that case.
Would any of you drop any of my prospects for Victor Mete?

I am not drinking the kool-aid enough to drop anyone off your roster for him yet.

He's a good prospect but as we saw with Beaulieu it's not easy to translate skill and skating into points from the blueline. I just don't see him as a guy for fantasy leagues yet.

I'm not saying do it, but Haapala would be my first choice easily for a drop. Abramov would be the second, the rest is one step ahead of this two in my book.
He looks very good preseason. Skating, passing, positioning. Been paired with Weber. Only thing against him is size - he's 5'10'' and 170 lbs. I think he's got the tools to be a good fantasy contributor. He looks to be almost a lock to start with the Habs.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
Don't let ONE blowout game cloud your judgement. Only 6 players from Montreal had zero points yesterday, and that includes Price who had an assist.
Mete has played great all preseason, but :
1- It's only the preseason ("Chillax", as Price would say). Last year, the points leader in preseason was Nathan Beaulieu... didn't exactly light it up during the regular season.
2- He's only 19. Defensemen are notoriously slower to develop than forwards.
3- Yeah he got 2 points yesterday... Yay! But it was in a blowout and it was only one game. Very small sample size (to judge on his offensive potential, not his overall play).
I know what you're feeling : we all want to be the guy that picked up the great prospect before he got on the others' radar. But your prospect group is already solid and much safer. If all goes well, Mete COULD MAYBE become as valuable as the others... but you already have the others and they already have that worth.
Instead of dropping one of your prospects, maybe you might consider trading one of them (I'd try to trade either Haapala or Abramov, in that order) for immediate help and replacing him with Mete, although depending on which prospects are available, I might go for another one before Mete as well.
On a fantasy hockey break.
One trait I'm liking is how aggressive he is on the attack. A lot of dmen play it safe to a fault and back off even when it makes sense to press a bit. Mete has created a lot of chances just by jumping into the play when there's an opening.
I still don't think it translates to a big point total but he has the traits the team needs so badly. He looks like an NHL player.

I'll be the contrarian here. Grab him now and drop Haapala. Haapala has limited upside compared to Mete.

I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
@JohnLuTSNMtl: #Habs Julien says the organization is of the mindset that Mete will stay the whole season, not just 9 games.

Rachel Doerrie (theathletic) has a really, really glowing article on Victor Mete last week.
She was raving about him. It was the first article of hers I've ever read, so I have no idea how much stock to put in that, but it was very well written and backed with some solid video analysis.
(She is a video/hockey analyst in Ontarior with various teams).
Let's see if this video embed link works:

He's also owned in my 12x60 dynasty by a sort of "prospect guru" GM.
